Raven-Symoné appeared on a recent episode of The Jason Lee Show with her wife, Miranda Pearman-Maday. During the conversation with the host, The Cosby Show child actor also addressed her lack of response to her Disney Channel co-star, Orlando Brown's comments.
The 39-year-old actress's That’s So Raven co-star has made comments about her many times. Last year, Brown gave an interview to Cam Capone News and claimed during the chat that he fathered a child with Raven. Orlando alleged,
“You know, I have a baby with Raven, nobody knows that.”
Orlando Brown continued talking about something else before the interviewer asked about the child again. The rapper-actor then addressed Raven-Symoné as Omina and went on to claim,
“Omina is a cool person, you guys know her as Raven-Symoné. I got a baby, his name is Hunter, that’s how you can describe that.”
Raven and Orlando’s co-star from That’s So Raven, Anneliese van der Pol, also reacted to the claims. She responded to a comment about the claim in a TikTok video and lip-synced to the following words,
“What the f*** are you talking about?”
Orlando Brown previously claimed in a song that Raven-Symoné “aborted” his baby
For the unversed, it is not the first time Orlando has made claims about Symoné. In 2016, he dropped a single F*** My Fame, and alleged in the song,
“Like Raven aborted my baby”
When he was later asked about the lyric, Brown told VladTV,
“It’s like ‘Raven aborted my baby’ line. I said ‘it’s like [...] It’s clearly a play on words, and It’s a metaphor. Basically, what I mean by that is, y’all want me to go crazy, and then y’all mother f***ers want to play.”
In another 2016 VladTV interview, Brown talked about his relationship with Raven-Symone. During the conversation, the rapper made an odd sound while saying,
“I told you in the first interview, she gave me…”
It remains unclear what Orlando was trying to suggest, but the clip went viral shortly after. The rapper addressed Raven in multiple other instances, making some controversial remarks.
Raven-Symoné reveals why she never responded to Orlando Brown's comments
The Dr. Dolittle child star addressed Orlando’s comments and told Jason Lee why she remained silent. She started by saying,
“I have to be really careful about what I say about Orlando because [...] Orlando is very smart. His tongue quips are so much faster than mine, and I know that. So, he can come off the dome like […] like that. He’s been doing that since I’ve known him and I’ve known him a long time. My quips come three weeks later.”
Raven-Symoné described Orlando Brown as “a comedic genius” and said she knew him and his family. She said,
“I know also that I know his family, I know him, and I knew him before drugs, after drugs, during God, not during God, and he was a comedic genius. And he’s still making people laugh… At others’ expenses.”
Raven proclaimed that she was “secure enough” in her “bank account” and continued,
“My life that I don’t have to dig that deep down to take it, and I also don’t defend myself about anything because that’s his experience. Only way people are going to know if it’s true or not is if I corroborate […] And I plead the fifth, period.”
Raven also said she knows Orlando more than the audience, as she worked with him for seven years. She also mentioned that Brown has “his own platform,” as she has her own. Raven added,
“Orlando was on the same trajectory. I have to give him his props as a comedian [...] I’m almost 40, I don’t have room to steep and dip that low.”
Raven-Symoné concluded by saying that she has a wife and “sh*t” to do, but Orlando Brown can stoop, referencing his comments.
