Everything Nikki Glaser shared about Timothée Chalamet skipping the Golden Globe Awards monologue for a joke

This year, Chalamet received a nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his performance in A Complete Unknown. He impressed viewers with his captivating portrayal of Bob Dylan.

As a fan and an admirer, Nikki Glaser was quite excited to harmlessly roast Timothée Chalamet at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards. However, he was almost ready to skip the comedian's monologue.

In a conversation on the panel discussion at the summit, Glaser revealed how the idea of making a joke on Timothée "got back to him," according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter. The host recalled,

"He was just going to skip my monologue and get there late, just so he didn’t have to deal with it."

The actor attended the awards night with his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner. Talking about that moment, she further continued,

"I get it, because he’s there with his girlfriend who is already the subject of so many jokes. He shouldn’t have to sit there if I’m going to make fun of something about him, it’s like his night. So, I don’t begrudge him doing that."

Amid the crowd at the Golden Globe Awards, Nikki Glaser pointed at Timothée Chalamet and jokingly said,

"Timothée Chalamet, you have the most gorgeous eyelashes — on your upper lip. That is such a good look."

Speaking about his performance in A Complete Unknown, Glaser later added,

"You were so good and in A Complete Unknown as Bob Dylan. I read that your singing voice was so accurate that even Bob Dylan admitted that it was absolutely horrible."

While Nikki's jokes landed perfectly that night, she realized that the Dune star might feel concerned. Previously, she texted his publicist,

"I love Timothée! I’m not telling you the jokes, but I promise the jokes are only uplifting him and saying, ‘I’m a huge fan.’ I would never do anything to ruin his night!"

However, an insider disclosed that Timothée did not plan to miss out on Nikki Glaser's monologue.

While she spoke her heart about her jokes about Chalamet, she also opened up about her script for Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco.

After her performance, she termed the joke for the couple as "kind of mean." She added during the discussion panel,

"Selena Gomez is here as double nominee tonight. And she’s here tonight with her new fiancé, Benny Blanco. And Benny Blanco is here because of the genie who granted him that wish."

Later, Nikki Glaser also chimed in,

"I said that Selena Gomez is here because of Emilia Pérez and Benny Blanco is here because the genie granted him that one wish, and looking back, I was like that was pretty mean."

According to a Deadline report, Nikki informed Benny beforehand about her joke via a text, and he responded to it as "hilarious." He also replied, saying,

"Let me run it by Selena."

Gomez also appreciated the write-up and called it "great."
