The internet is rallying around model and influencer Maya Henry, who was bombarded with hate comments following ex-fiance Liam Payne’s death. Ten days before Liam Payne’s death, Henry seemingly called out the One Direction singer in a TikTok video. The clip has now gone viral online, triggering a volley of hateful comments against the influencer, who was blamed for the singer's death.

Amid the intense vitriol, several people defended Henry saying that she was not responsible for the tragic incident and hoped common sense would prevail. Liam Payne reportedly died on October 16, 2024, after falling out of his hotel room window in Argentina. Shortly after, a video of Maya Henry alleging her ex was seemingly stalking her went viral on social media site X. While Henry did not name Payne in the video, she invoked the band One Direction, indicating her ex had ties to the band.

In the video posted on TikTok on October 6, 2024, Henry alleged she was addressing the relentless comments that accused her of being obsessed with Liam Payne. She said:

"Ever since we broke up, he messages me, blows up my phone… always from different phone numbers.”

Henry added:

"He’ll create new iCloud accounts to message me. It's always a new iCloud account." She continued, "Also would email me. He would do this when his phone was taken away. Not only me, He would also blow up my mom's phone."

Henry went on to accuse her ex of messaging her best friend, asking her to come over to his house, saying his girlfriend was gone. She added:

"He’s the one that is constantly doing weird s*it. He says that he preys on One Direction fans because they will always be loyal to him and they won’t tell on him."

Liam Payne's ex-fiance Maya Henry slammed with hate comments

On Monday, October 14, 2024, The Sun reported Henry had issued Liam Payne a cease and desist letter last week. The letter was sent “following the emergence of new and concerning information."

In light of the information that Maya Henry was embroiled in a legal dispute with Liam Payne, compounded with the TikTok video, her Instagram comments were inundated with hateful messages. Several fans blamed Henry for Payne’s death. A social media user wrote:

“Her announcing she was going to expose his abuse to her in a book made him relapse on drugs and alcohol.”

Another comment said:

“You should be so happy now.”

In a podcast interview released two days before Payne’s death, Maya Henry alleged her ex used death as a manipulation tactic.

“I always felt it was a manipulation tactic… I always felt like it was so I’d continue to feel bad for him. He would always message me ever since we broke up, like ‘Oh, I’m not well.’ He would always play with death and be like, ‘Well, I’m gonna die. I’m not doing well.’”

Amid the vitriol directed at Henry, several social media users defended her online. A social media user, highlighting the hateful comments directed at Henry, said:

“Maya Henry does NOT deserve this y'all. Do you realize she has nothing to do with Liam Payne passing away?”

Another noted:

“Maya talks about the manipulation tactics Liam Payne would use, including messaging her and her mom saying he was going to die if she didn’t help him. Now he’s gone and people are blaming her. This is crazy.”

Payne and Henry were engaged in 2020 before they split up in 2022.
