The Real Housewives of Potomac star Karen Huger was charged with DUI, DWI, negligent driving, and failing to control vehicle speed in March 2024.
Huger faced charges after a single-vehicle collision in Potomac after reportedly crossing a median and striking several street signs, as per Montgomery County Police.
On December 17, Karen Huger was found guilty by the jury on all charges except reckless driving.
The star's attorney, A. Scott. Bolden, in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE magazine, said,
"Although we are disappointed in the jury's verdict, we of course respect their decision and appreciate their time hearing our case. We continue to reserve Mrs. Huger's right to an appeal and intend to fully pursue justice on her behalf. We appreciate your support and prayers for Mrs. Huger and her family at this time."
"Are you wishing me harm" - says Karen Huger to her RHOP costars for their comments about her DUI
Karen Huger's DUI incident had become a significant storyline in The Real Housewives of Potomac. Following the premiere of Season 9, Huger, during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, opened up to host Andy Cohen about how she feels about her DUI incident coming up in the show. When Andy Cohen asked if there was something in the show that took her back to the time of the incident and upset her, Karen Huger said,
"It took me back to that time, and it's still ongoing and it just was so painful to watch it because I lived through it."
She also said that she cares for the other co-stars of the show and wanted them to "be patient and wait" since it's an ongoing case, but she was affected by Ashley Darby's comments, who, in one of the episodes, remarked.
"We know that Karen has had a DUI before, so I never thought that Karen would be a repeat offender with something like this."
While responding to Ashley's comments, Karen said,
"But you know Ashley saying what she said - let's be clear, Ashley needs to be concerned about her relationship with alcohol the way she sucks down the Coronas. I'm just saying."
She also added that it's very "painful" to hear comments from the co-stars and their "accusations."
"It's very painful to listen to that. And their accusations - are you wishing me harm? Honestly, I'm hoping to win when it all comes out, but I have to respect the law."
After being found guilty of the charges, the sentencing is scheduled for January 29, 2025, as per PEOPLE magazine.
