Joe Rogan, UFC commentator and podcaster, discussed and picked a side in the court battle between Justin Baldoni and the couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds in the latest episode of his podcast with guest star Brendan Schaub on 22 March 2025.
In the latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, he was joined by former MMA fighter and comedian Brendan Schaub, and they discussed the legal case and he sided with Justin Baldoni and criticised the power couple.
Rogan bluntly put it,
"They f***** up"
in the power couple's choice to sue Justin Baldoni after behind-the-scenes disputes during the filming of the movie, It Ends With Us. Baldoni was accused of s*xual harassment and intimidation on set in the complaint, which Lively had filed in late 2024.
Baldoni responded by suing Lively, her husband Ryan, and her publicist Leslie Sloane for $400 million in defamation and fraud, alleging that they plotted to remove him from the movie and seize control.
Joe Rogan implied that Reynolds is trying to distance himself from the case, and it could be too late. He said,
"Ryan's trying to get out of it now. He's like, 'I wasn't even there,' and they're like, 'You're in this, buddy.'"
Joe Rogan defends Baldoni and calls him 'sweet'
When defending Bladoni, Rogan didn't hold back, saying that he was forced to take a strong stance in court. He remarked,
"The whole thing’s crazy, [Baldoni’s] suing the New York Times, and he’s got a great case there, too."
He was alluding to Baldoni's other complaint against The New York Times, which he says further harmed his image by misrepresenting the specifics of the case.
Joe Rogan also acknowledged Baldoni's choice to fight back along with Schaub. They both concurred that if he wanted to save his career, he had to fight back against the couple and go "hard in the paint." Joe Rogan mentioned that Baldoni filing a lawsuit was noteworthy as he was seen as a nice and gentle person.
The 57-year-old podcaster pointed out that Baldoni had been pushed to his limits,
"Especially a guy like that who’s, like, known for being a really sweet, nice guy, and then he’s, like, ‘All right, enough,’"
Schaub and Rogan both highlighted how hard it is for people to survive in Hollywood and to compete with Reynolds and Lively, a power couple nonetheless. Joe Rogan went on to say that many people would be scared going against big names, especially against power couples like Reynolds and Lively, who are A-list.
Rogan praised Baldoni for sticking to his principles in spite of the risks, as many wouldn't dare go up against powerful people in the industry.
Rogan went on to say,
"You're going up against two A-listers. Most people in Hollywood would never touch that. But Baldoni's out here dropping receipts."

Joe Rogan emphasized that Baldoni isn't just making claims but actually backing them up. According to reports, Baldoni showed up with his 'receipts', which make it evident that it was Lively who invited him and later accused him of walking in on her while she was breastfeeding without her permission, he also released a voice message he sent her along with a behind the scenes clip that he feels refutes her allegations that he made her feel "uncomfortable" and finally the director also released a website which contains all his texts with Lively.
Joe Rogan, based on these 'receipts' said,
"You literally have a text exchange back and forth. They just never thought that anybody was going to come out with the receipts.”
Representatives fire and push each other back
Lively and her legal team are refusing to back down in the face of criticism. Her lawyers contend that Baldoni's countersuit is an effort to keep her quiet and that it contravenes California's anti-SLAPP rules, which are intended to shield people from legal reprisals for reporting abuse.
Bryan Freedman, Baldoni's attorney, rejected this claim, speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, and said,
"These statutes aren't meant to shield the rich and powerful from accountability."
claiming that Justin Baldoni is the real victim here.
The trial date for their legal battle is scheduled for March of next year.
