Warwick Davis delivered a heartfelt tribute to his late wife, as he accepted this year's Bafta Fellowship Award. The actor, who is known for his role in the Harry Potter movie series, dedicated the award in her honor.

Warwick's emotional speech comes nearly a year after the passing of his wife, Samantha Davis, who tragically died at the age of 53, following a long battle with Sepsis.

In his heart-moving speech, Warwick expressed deep gratitude for the support his wife had given him throughout his career, saying that she has been his most ardent supporter of everything he has done.

"Above all though, I’d like to dedicate and thank my wonderful wife Sammy, who died almost a year ago. She was always so supportive of my career, encouraged me to grab every opportunity with both hands." Davis said.

Amidst the heartbreaking tribute, the actor also took a humorous dig at his wife.

"However, I soon noticed that her level of enthusiasm for me taking a particular role was often relative to how much she wanted that new designer handbag." he said.

The Star Wars actor also thanked his children, who were in the audience for their support during this difficult time.

"Since then, life has been pretty tough for me. But thanks to the support of our wonderful children, Annabelle and Harrison, I’ve been able to continue working and engaging in life."

As he concluded his speech, Warwick grew tearful as he spoke about the possibility of loving again.

"Special mention too should go to Sponge. You know who you are. Thank you for showing me that life can still have meaning" he added.

Back in 2018, Samantha Davis contracted sepsis, following a spinal surgery. Last year, following Samantha's passing, Warwick paid her a moving tribute.

"My wife and soulmate, best friend. Devoted mother, My favorite human. My most trusted confidant and an ardent supporter of everything I did in my career, has passed."

He further added:

"She was a unique character, always seeing the sunny side of life she had a wicked sense of humour and always laughed at my bad jokes,” he said in a statement.

The couple, married in 1991, were together for 33 years and have two children.

Warwick Davis honored with Fellowship Prize

The legendary actor was presented with the Fellowship Prize, this year, for his contributions to promoting inclusive spaces in the industry. The award was presented by fellow Harry Potter co-star, Tom Felton. Hollywood stalwarts like George Lucas and Mark Hamill also praised Warwick Davis for his achievements before he was presented with the award.

Accepting his award, the Willow star joked:

“This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me and I’ve been in Star Wars.”

He ended his speech on an inspiring note, by saying:

"To anyone out there dreaming of telling there story, or creating something meaningful, go for it. The world needs your vision, and in future if you need an actor to help bring that vision to life, remember the little fella with the Bafta."

The past recipients of the award include the likes of Sir Sidney Poitier, Dame Maggie Smith, Helen Mirren, and Anthony Hopkins among others.
