While Wanda Smith was widely known for the infamous Katt Williams radio interview, it should be noted she was also a beloved radio host in Atlanta. She rose to fame after co-hosting Frank and Wanda in the Morning, on V-103 (WVEE-FM) for over two decades. She was also well-known in the Atlanta comedy circuit.

What happened between Katt Willaims and Wanda Smith’s husband?

According to a report from 11 Alive in 2018, Comedian Katt Williams and Atlanta radio host Wanda Smith allegedly got into a heated argument outside the Atlanta Comedy Theater in Norcross. The altercation stemmed from an interview Smith did with Williams the week before.

In 2018, Katt Williams appeared on Wanda Smith's radio show to celebrate his Emmy win for his role in Donald Glover's show "Atlanta." During the interview, the duo engaged in awkward banter, which culminated with Williams deriding Smith.

A week after the interview, Smith and Williams reportedly ran into each other at the comedy club and got into an argument that ended with Smith’s husband allegedly pulling a gun on Williams,

Williams told the Gwinnett County Police Department, Smith’s husband, Lamorris Sellers, pulled a gun out and pointed it in his face.

However, Sellers denied the accusation. He told police that Williams instigated a verbal fight with Smith. Sellers alleged Williams wanted to fight his wife, which impelled him to approach Williams and chase him into the Food Depot.

Sellers confessed he had a gun at the time of the incident. However, Sellers maintained the gun fell out of his pocket while chasing Williams and he only retrieved the gun from the floor before turning back to the Atlanta Comedy Theater.

In an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Wanda Smith’s husband reiterated his statement to the police. He told the website Williams allegedly made a bee-line toward his wife at the club and allegedly stated:

"I told you f**king with me would make you go viral!."

At the time, the interview between Wanda Smith and Williams had been viewed over a million times.

Smith’s husband Sellers alleged Williams indicated that he wanted to fight. Sellers added:

“I have to protect my wife. I wasn’t looking for conflict. I just wanted him to keep it moving. He chose to do something different.”

Wanda Smith was fired as a radio host following her verbal altercation with Williams.

Katt Williams revisited Smith interview earlier this year.

Earlier this year, Katt Williams briefly touched on his interview with Wanda Smith on the Club Shay Shay podcast. Williams said that his appearance on the radio show was meant to be a celebration of his Emmy win for Donald Glover’s “Atlanta” series.

Williams recalled Smith promising to steer clear of personal issues plaguing the comedian. Williams recalled Smith saying:

“‘We won’t talk about your kids, we won’t talk about jail, no cases. We ain’t gonna talk about none of that.”

Williams said he went after Smith after she went back on the promise. Williams said:

“It’s a very thin line I gotta call, but this lady is trying to embarrass me in front of a largely homosexual fanbase. That’s why she got canceled.”

However, Smith maintained that Williams was out to get her from the beginning.
