Further investigation into the shocking death of 24-year-old Stephon Mack, revealed that rapper Lil Durk may have a possible connection to the crime. Mack was fatally shot outside the Youth Peace Center of Roseland on Jan. 27, 2022.
Authorities believe Mack’s killing was premeditated and well executed. Which means that it was no random act of violence. According to Block Club Chicago, Mack was attacked by two gunmen who ambushed him as he exited the Peace Center, firing at him several times.
Lil Durk’s Alleged Involvement
In a sudden twist which nobody saw coming, the rapper Lil Durk has been charged with funding the killing as part of a revenge plot. Reports from CWB Chicago state that the Investigators say that the killing was linked to the 2021 murder of Durk’s brother, Dontay Banks Jr.
The federal documents state that Durk offered money to those who were willing to avenge his brother’s murder by killing members of the Gang responsible for his brother's death, this included Stephon Mack.
The police have cited text messages, social media posts, and even lyrics from a song by Lil Durk, Ahh Ha, as evidence. The song, which came out soon after Mack’s death, is believed to share some hints and references to the shooting, although Durk has not been officially charged in this matter.
As these allegations circulate, Lil Durk is already dealing with serious charges in a separate case in Los Angeles. Prosecutors there have charged him in a murder-for-hire case, associated with the shooting of the rapper Quando Rondo.
Durk’s lawyers had requested his release after posting a $3.3 million worth of bond. But the judge has denied that request, by stating that the charges are serious. His information has been shared by both local crime reports and national outlets.
