Pete Davidson and Colin Jost were once friends who allegedly failed to balance business and friendship. According to The Sun, the 31-year-old comedian gifted his estranged friend a $20,000 Cartier watch.
Pete got the gift two years after the pair bought a decommissioned Staten Island ferry boat in 2023 for $280,100 with architect and developer Ron Castellano and comedy club owner, Paul Italia. The duo had reportedly planned to turn the ferry into a floating nightclub.
A source told In Touch that Pete Davidson went "AWOL" at the time while Colin Jost was working on putting the plan together.
"What began as a promising venture has devolved into bitter disappointment, serving as a stark reminder of the perils of mixing business with friendship. While Colin is scrambling to assemble a competant team, Pete seems to have gone AWOL. It remains to be seen whether their friendship can weather the storm!"
While speaking to People, Colin called the decision "absolutely the dumbest and least thought-through purchase I've ever made in my life."
An insider, who spoke to The Sun about the gift mentioned:
"this gift was a positive gesture that Pete made to Colin just after he got out of rehab."

In September 2024, an insider confirmed to The U.S Sun that Colin Jost and Pete Davidson had stopped speaking to each other. Jost refused to be at 30 Rock, where Saturday Night Live is filmed, at the same time as Davidson.
"Pete and Colin can't be in 30 Rock together. Something big happened and Colin is now refusing to be in the same building, let alone the same room as Pete. Colin doesn't want to be associated with Pete."
The source also mentioned that the two are busy and don't talk "as much as they used to." The source reasoned the distance by noting that "people move on; they work on other things."
