What happened to Madison De La Garza’s daughter? Demi Lovato’s sister gets a new tattoo in tribute to her late child

Madison De La Garza, actress and younger sister of Demi Lovato, lost her baby girl after she underwent an emergency C-section last September. Garza took to social media on April 22, 2025, to share her new tattoo, which she got as a tribute to her late daughter. The tattoo was a handwritten "XO" on the palm of her hand, with a tiny heart in between the letters.

Madison De La Garza shared an Instagram story with a picture of the tattoo, writing the following on it:

"For my baby girl."

The actress was expecting her first child with boyfriend Ryan Mitchell. However, unfortunately, it was followed by the news of her baby's death, which she shared on an Instagram post in October 2024.

"On the evening of September 27th, after an emergency C-section, Ryan and I held our little girl for the first and last time. Thank you, Xiomara, for making us parents to the most perfect angel in heaven. Mommy and Daddy love you sweet girl."

Demi Lovato wrote in the comment section:

"Love you so much Xiomara. An angel in every sense of the word. I'll be your auntie forever."

Who is Madison De La Garza

Madison De La Garza is an American actress and filmmaker, and Demi Lovato's younger sister. The pop star and Madison share the same mother, with Garza being 9 years younger to Lovato.

Garza is known for playing Juantia Solis on Desperate Housewives, from 2008 to 2012. Madison De La Garza has also appeared in two of sister Lovato's Disney films, including Sonny with a Chance and Princess Protection Program, both first aired in 2009.

During an appereance on Heart of the Matter podcast in 2021, Garza mentioned that she had previously received a lot of online criticism, but Eva Longoria, who played the role of her mother, in Desperate Housewives, shielded her:

"We never explicitly talked about it, but (Longoria) definitely went out of her way to make me feel like I was pretty and like I was special, and she made me fell like I was family. And if I ever did want to go to her with these things, I absolutely could have."

Despite gaining recognition as a child actor, Garza stepped aside from her Hollywood acting career. However, she was involved in short film projects in 2018 and 2023. As per a November 2023 TikTok video, Garza had been working as a teaching assistant. Although it is unclear how long she has been dating boyfriend Ryan Mitchell, she went public about her relationship in June 2024 before announcing the news of her pregnancy in September 2024, followed by the death of her child in October 2024.
