Everything to know about LaVar Ball and his bold declarations: From claiming that his son could beat Michael Jordan and more

LaVar Ball is renowned for serving as the co-founder of the Big Baller Brand, though he is arguably more famous for being the father of Hornets guard LaMelo Ball, Bulls guard Lonzo Ball, and former NBA player LiAngelo Ball. He first made headlines in 2017, when he predicted that his sons would make it big in the basketball world.

At the time, he declared that Lonzo Ball was better at the sport than Stephen Curry and could beat out Michael Jordan in a one-on-one game, long before his son was even drafted into the NBA. Lonzo eventually went on to become the second overall pick by the Lakers in the 2017 NBA Draft, while his other son, LaMelo, was the third overall pick by the Hornets three years later.

The New York Post has reported that Lonzo Ball signed a 2-year contract with the Bulls, as well as a $20 million contract extension in February. Back in 2022, he suffered a knee injury that mandated he undergo several surgeries, forcing him to sit out on all matches for well over 1,000 days.

LaVar Ball's other son, LaMelo, was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2021 and that same year, he broke into the NBA All-Rookie First Team. By the following year, he played his first NBA All-Star game.

As for LaVar Ball's third son, LiAngelo Ball, he has been a rising star in the world of rap and hip hop, as he recently signed a deal with Def Jam.

The patriarch himself is involved in several projects, including the company that he founded, Big Baller Brand. He has reportedly claimed that his company is valued at $3 billion. He also founded the Junior Basketball Association in 2018, though it only ran for a single season.
