John Goodman is currently filming an untitled Alejandro G. Iñárritu project. During the shooting, the veteran Hollywood actor reportedly got injured and was subsequently hospitalized.
Per the Warner Bros Pictures rep, the 72-year-old suffered a hip injury, which halted the shooting for a few days. Deadline also reported that the injury is relatively minor and the filming is expected to resume by Monday. The WB rep issued a statement to multiple outlets, which reads,
“Actor John Goodman experienced a hip injury. He received immediate medical attention that led to a brief delay in shooting to allow him time to recover. The production resumes shooting next week following John’s full recovery.”
TMZ also published an exclusive report revealing that the incident happened at the Pinewood Studios in the UK. A source told the outlet that Goodman fell on the set, but the injury was unrelated to any stunt.
John Goodman suffered a hip injury while shooting for a film that also stars Tom Cruise

A few days back, The Sun exclusively reported about the hospitalization of a movie star, which halted filming in the UK. The tabloid revealed that the renowned actor seemingly suffered “injuries to his pelvis and leg.” The news also delved into the details around the cast, which includes Tom Cruise alongside John Goodman, Jesse Plemons, and Riz Ahmed.
A source told The Sun,
“The actor is renowned for loving spectacular stunts which obviously involve some element of danger and the risk of injury - though they always strive to keep any risk to an absolute minimum.”
Later, reports from Deadline, People, and TMZ confirmed Goodman as an injured actor. Fortunately, The Flintstones star’s injuries are not severe, as the WB Pictures rep revealed. He is expected to recover and resume filming soon.

It is not the first time Goodman has suffered an injury while filming. In January 2022, The Conners star recounted suffering an injury to his head as the production team was shooting a fight scene for The Righteous Gemstones Season 2,
“We were quite a few takes in with the fight, and it was maybe 1:30-2:00 in the morning. I'm 69 years old so I lost my footing… The choreography was safe, everything was safe but I lost my footing and slammed head first into the rear of a truck and got, as they say, my bell rung.”
He explained that the injury was not serious but still followed the precautionary concussion protocols,
“We had it all anyway, so to be safe I went to a hospital and got a concussion protocol to follow and some pictures taken of my head to make sure it was okay.”
Recalling the incident again on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Big Lebowski actor said that he “was trying to be [a] stunt boy.”
Besides his struggles with injuries, the actor had also battled with mental issues for a long time. He opened up about them in 2024 on the SmartLess podcast, hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett. Goodman, who suffers from anxiety, told the hosts,
“I overcompensated by working way too hard. I've just kind of come out of that in the last year or so. And there's so much to learn… It's much different now. I feel like I’m still learning… The last couple of years have been goofy for me because I've been trying to be good — and it doesn't work that way.”
John Goodman also said,
“It was bad with everything. It just purged out of me when I went to the therapist one day. And then for the rest of the day it was horrible. Nothing worked.”
Goodman, who once struggled with alcoholism but sobered up in 2007, has also worked on his fitness. According to his 2022 Rolling Stones interview, the actor has reportedly lost around 200 pounds since the early 2010s.
