Conor Oberst is going through "vocal problems," for which his band Bright Eyes has canceled the remaining dates on the 2024 concert schedule.

The group published a statement on social media on September 29, 2024, notifying fans that Oberst would receive "continued medical attention," and the band intends to continue the tour next year.

"Over the past week, Conor has undergone multiple tests to determine the cause of his recent vocal problems. It's come to light that he has developed a condition that is exacerbated by excessive singing, requiring both treatment and recuperation. We are confident that with a successful regiment, and continued medical attention, we will be able to return to the road next year."

The band noted that they will cancel shows planned for Los Angeles, Oakland, Las Vegas, and Europe for the rest of the year and that all tickets for headline shows will be refunded "at point of purchase."

More about Conor Oberst's Bright Eyes tour

As per Bright Eyes' social media statement, the band will be canceling all their upcoming shows for 2024 but will be back on the road in 2025. In August, the band announced tour dates for 2025 after the release of their new song, Rainbow Overpass, from their upcoming album, Five Dice, All Three.

In 2025, Bright Eyes will start their tour from Phoenix, Arizona, on January 16 and end their tour by April 26 in West Des Moines, Iowa.

During a concert in Cleveland, Oberst apologized for his "voice being so f*cked up" and added he wanted to "kill myself." His words prompted one of his bandmates to quickly whisper to him, after which he said, "Apparently, I'm not supposed to say that on stage...a.k.a, I'm not going to kill myself."

Videos went viral on social media showcasing Conor Oberst appearing to slur his words on stage. At one point, he paused a song and informed the audience and his bandmates that he couldn't recall a part of the verse.

At the time, on September 19, 2024, the band announced the cancellation of upcoming shows while mentioning,

"The warm up shows we played earlier this week resulted in Conor losing his voice and, on the advice of doctors, we've made the difficult but sensible decision to prioritize rest and recuperation for the remainder of the month."

After news about Conor Oberst's condition went viral, netizens took to social media, expressing concern over his welfare and health.
