Christy Carlson Romano, the former Disney star, was hospitalized after being shot in the eye while she was out celebrating her husband's 42nd birthday. The incident took place on Friday, February 7, at a shooting range in Austin where the couple had gone as part of a special birthday activity.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, the actress, known for playing Ren Stevens on Even Stevens, opened up about the accident.

"I got shot in the eye, it was not fun. I am safe. I got shot here (pointing to below her left eye). It is still inside," Romano said in the Instagram video.

She added in the caption:

"I was hit in 5 places, one was less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye. Unfortunately a fragment got lodged behind my eye and it is too risky to remove surgically at this time."

Her injuries include a bloodshot and bruised right eye, along with wounds on her forehead and scalp.


Christy Carlson Romano reveals the cause of the accident

Christy Carlson Romano shared further details about the cause of her accident with her followers on Instagram. In her Instagram post, she stated that it was caused by a third party who was present at the venue with them at the time of the accident.

"There was another party with us and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face."

Romano also thanked her husband, Brendan Rooney, for his swift action and quick thinking following her accident. He took immediate action by thoroughly assessing her condition and ensuring she received the urgent medical care she needed.

Rooney shared a heartwarming message on Instagram to show his support and love for his wife.

"My wife gets shot, I ask to take a picture for the record, she flips me the bird and smiles (she nearly lost her eye mind you)... I love you so much and I’m so grateful you’re safe and that you’re going to be okay. I will be by your side forever.

Romano also expressed her deep love for her family, urging everyone to cherish their loved ones and reminding everyone that life can change instantly.

"With everything that happened, all I can think about is how grateful I am to be alive. I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much. I saw my life flash before my eyes and I’m telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant."

Christy Carlson Romano expressed her gratitude to first responders

In her message, Christy Carlson Romano, who is now recovering from the traumatic accident, also said that the doctors will continue to monitor her so that they can address any sudden concerns during her recovery process.

The Kim Possible voice actor thoroughly acknowledged the swift action of the first responders and stressed their critical help during such a difficult moment after the accident.

"I am very grateful to first responders as a whole. I mean they are the most amayzing superhero like people to take care of us at our most desperate times. So I am very grateful to St David's Health here in Austin." said the Special Forces: World's Toughest Test star while expressing her gratitude in her video.
