77-year-old legendary guitarist, Carlos Santana, has been hospitalized for dehydration, ahead of his concert in San Antonio on April 22.

Carlos Augusto Alves Santana is a Mexican American rock guitarist who gained recognition in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band Santana, known for their rock, salsa, and jazz fusion.

A rep for Carlos Santana confirmed on April 22, with his manager, Michael Vrionnis, confirming that he was taken for observation after he suffered an incident while prepping for the show:

"Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action. He is doing well and is looking forward to coming back to San Antonio soon as well as continuing his US Tour. Thank you all very much for your understanding. The show will be rescheduled soon."

Santana was scheduled to play at San Antonio's Majestic Theatre on April 22 evening, after finishing a concert in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 21. He is currently scheduled to perform on April 23, in Sugar Land, Texas, and on April 25, in Thackerville, Oklahoma, as part of his Oneness Tour. However, he is yet to confirm news about his scheduled concerts, as he battles dehydration.

More about Carlos Santana's cancelled concerts

This isn't the first time Carlos Santana has cancelled his concert due to a health issue. In January, the guitarist had to postpone his Las Vegas residency after injuring his finger during a fall and requiring an operation. At the time, his manager, and president of Universal Tone Management, Michael Vrionis, in a statement to Variety:

"I am sorry to say that Carlos was out taking a walk at his vacation home in Kauai. He took a hard fall, and he broke his little finger on his left hand. He had to have pins inserted in the finger. Unfortunately, he won't be able to play guitar for approximately six weeks. Doctors do say that he will recuperate fully."

Carlos Santana was scheduled to play eight shows at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino from February 2, 2025. Santana had also postponed six concerts in 2022, after suffering from dehydration and heat exhaustion.

About the cancellation of the April 22 San Antonio show, the guitarist's reps are advising ticket holders to hold on to their tickets, promising that they will have more information on the postponed date as soon as possible.
