What happened between Alex Turner and Luke Pritchard? The Kooks member recalls feud with the Arctic Monkeys frontman

Luke Pritchard once kicked Alex Turner in the face.

In 2007, the Kooks collaborated with the Arctic Monkeys for a gig where they were supposed to support the latter on tour. However, things did not end well after Arctic Monkeys' member Alex Turner pulled the plug out of The Kooks' Luke Pritchard's guitar. Pritchard responded to the incident by giving Turner a kick in the face.

However, time has passed for the two and Pritchard, in a recent interview with Daily Mail published on April 13, ahead of the release of The Kooks' seventh album Never/Know, mentions that there's now mutual respect between the two bands,

"‘From our point of view, it just happened that our [debut] albums came out the same day, we were the same age, and we had similar influences. But I respect them, and I think they respect us. We come across them quite a bit, and it’s always fine."

He also went on to recall the incident and said,

"'There was the "kick in the head" - we were meant to tour with them around our first album, and it didn't happen.They came down to our gig, and there was a bit of an incident. But again, it was all fun. It was crazy times, man.'

"We've had a weird relationship with the Arctic Monkeys since we first met," - says Luke Pritchard

After their 2007 feud, in an interview with The Mirror in 2008, The Kooks' member Luke Pritchard recalled the incident and revealed,

"We've had a weird relationship with the Arctics since we first met. I had to kick Alex in the face because he was trying to pull the leads out of my guitar pedals while we were on stage. We had done so many shows back to back with them, and it just escalated."

He also added,

"I saw them recently in a studio and tried to patch things up. I asked Alex if he wanted to have a bit of a jam in the studio, but he just turned his back and walked away."

At the time, Alex was dating T4 presenter Alexa Chung, and Pritchard commented on their relationship, saying that "Alex has a famous girlfriend, but I don't think that helps him." He added that Turner was "big" before dating Chung.

Neither Alex Turner nor the Arctic Monkeys had acknowledged the 2007 incident or commented on a feud with Pritchard.
