The two co-stars for Sex Education on Netflix, Aimee Lou Wood and Connor Swindells, previously dated offscreen. Their characters, Aimee Gibbs and Adam Groff, portrayed a teenage romance in the series.

Aimee and Connor met while filming the debut season of Sex Education back in 2018. Their characters in the series were romantically linked, and as the series took off, so did speculation about their chemistry off-screen, as per The Mirror.

The couple confirmed they were together after the show aired, sharing snippets of their time together on social media, many of those posts have since been deleted.

Connor spoke about their romance in a 2019 interview with The Telegraph, confirming their relationship while noting that their onscreen closeness was meticulously choreographed and separate from their off-camera connection.

Although their friendship appeared extremely close, Aimee and Connor broke up in 2020 after two years together. Speaking to Grazia, Aimee Lou Wood spoke in more depth about the relationship ending, explaining that they had taken some time apart before deciding that the relationship was no longer serving either of them right. Describing her emotions after the breakup she said:

"I felt like a dam burst, then all of a sudden I was hurting, but I needed to be there, because I’d become a bit numb and it was nice to suddenly feel everything again."
