We don't know whether rapper Drake is one of actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s favorite artists or not but what we know is that 52-year-old actress and businesswoman is seemingly not happy with her Spotify Wrapped 2024. She said the music streaming company did not accurately represent her listening habits for 2024. Paltrow said so in the ‘This & That’ Q&A newsletter of her wellness and lifestyle brand Goop.
The questions focused on her favorite hotels, parental advice, her influence on the internet, her oldest winter coat, etc. One of the questions was about her Spotify Wrapped 2024. She answered that the data was inaccurate as Brazilian singer João Gilberto topped the list, despite her not listening to his music often. Gwyneth Paltrow said:
“My data was not accurate. I listened to João Gilberto, like at dinner parties, but it has him as my number one artist, and that’s impossible because I had it on a couple times but not enough to warrant that spot.”
Spotify Wrapped gives an insight into a listener’s musical picks throughout the year. One also gets a playlist with the most-played songs. However, like Gwyneth Paltrow, not everyone was satisfied with this year’s wrap-up. For instance, Drake filed a pre-action petition against the music streaming company for allegedly using bots to boost Kendrick Lamar’s diss track Not Like Us.
Filed in November 2024, the petition alleged that both Spotify and Universal Music Group (UMG) boosted Lamar’s track instead of his. They reportedly used artificial means like bots and payola to augment the track. UMG responded to the claims saying they were baseless and added the music corporation was committed to using ethical means.
What did Gwyneth Paltrow choose between this and that?
The actress will be having a stay on New Year’s Eve. She said Kate Winslet is her dream guest for the Goop podcast in 2025. While advising parents who would become empty nesters in 2025, she asked them to go with the excitement and confusion of the experience. These parents can:
“Lean into the silver linings. Plan a fun trip you would never have done because you would’ve felt too guilty if your kids were home.”
In March 2024, The Times featured an interview with Gwyneth Paltrow where she discussed the emotional transition of her children heading off to college, noting how it would change their daily routine. However, in August 2024, reports emerged of Paltrow and her husband Brad Falchuk dropping off her son Brody at Yale University in Connecticut.
When asked about the best month to visit Paris, Gwyneth Paltrow said late May was the best time to visit any place in the northern hemisphere. She likes the brand called The Gold Album and said it made beautiful enamel and gold pieces. During the Q&A, she also shared her favorite serum which is the one by Goop Beauty. She said:
“It gives the best serums on the market a total run for their money: It’s got a high concentration of vitamin C, 20%, and our unique double-bottle formula keeps it fresh for much longer than the vitamin C serums that come premixed.”
As the Q&A came to a close, Gwyneth Paltrow reflected on a numerology reading saying she was in a year of endings, marked by personal losses, transitions, and significant changes. She shared how these experiences taught her to let go and recognize the growth that came with discomfort and recalibration.
