The Golden Bachelorette contestant Gil Ramirez has reportedly been allotted limited screen time following his past revelations.

According to a People Magazine exclusive from September 19, 2024, documents obtained by the media hub revealed allegations that Ramirez has a history of stalking, with a temporary restraining order filed by an ex-girlfriend just three months ago.

This happened on June 11, 2024, reportedly just days before the show’s production began when a woman who said she had been in a relationship with Ramirez was granted a temporary restraining order on the grounds of emotional harassment.

In her request for a domestic violence restraining order, the woman allegedly stated that despite her instructions for him to stop contacting her, Gil Ramirez repeatedly reached out to her, her family, and her friends. She specified that while she had not been physically harmed, he made approximately 25 attempts daily through phone calls, texts, and videos.

The woman also mentioned that, despite living an hour away, Gil Ramirez regularly appeared at places she frequented in order to confront her. The Golden Bachelorette website describes Gil as a blend of romance, sweetness, and emotional depth. As an educator, he’s ready to find love again and misses the certainty of being with the right partner.

He made his first appearance on the premiere of Joan Vassos' season of The Golden Bachelorette, which aired on September 18, 2024. His profile described him as a 60-year-old educator from Mission Viejo, California.

What happened after Gil Ramirez was issued a temporary restraining order?

The judge issued a temporary restraining order to the accused on that day and scheduled a hearing for July 2, 2024. However, the hearing was delayed on the expected date as Gil Ramirez had not been served the order. Court documents indicate that the hearing was rescheduled for July 24, 2024 with the temporary restraining order extended until then.

At the following hearing, court records indicated that the woman gave sworn testimony, but the case was dismissed without prejudice due to a failure to serve the order, resulting in the dismissal of the temporary restraining order as well.

A source from the reality show mentioned that the filing took place during the short window between the show's comprehensive background check, the vetting process and the start of production.

Nonetheless, in light of the recent developments, the show has further reduced Ramirez's already limited screen time and minimized his presence in upcoming promotional materials. During the episode, he playfully tossed a ball to Vassos, making a lighthearted remark about her being a "great catch." He also gave her a brief lesson in T-ball, which helped him secure a rose by the end of the episode.

A father of two, he hopes to prove that men can be just as committed to meaningful relationships in their golden years. In his free time, Gil enjoys visiting comedy clubs with friends and relaxing with a foot massage.

With retirement approaching, Gil Ramirez dreams of living by the beach in Hawaii with the partner he’ll spend the rest of his life with. His favorite way to express affection is by holding hands, and he’s reaching out for Joan, hoping she’s the one he’s been waiting for.
