Country musician Eric Church is following through on his promise to support the victims of Hurricane Helene by donating 40 homes. This initiative is part of a larger commitment he made last year during his concert, pledging to help rebuild Avery County. Through this contribution, Church hopes to make a meaningful impact on those affected by the flooding.
Eric Church is estimated to have a worth of around $ 40 million. The singer-songwriter released his debut album "Sinners Like Me" in 2005, which sold over a million copies, with the song "How 'Bout You" reaching No. 14 on The Billboard Hot Country Chart at No.14. The 10 time-Grammy nominated singer has also seen massive success over the years, with his 2011 album, Chief, topping both the Billboard 2000 and Top Country Album Charts.
Eric Church donates 40 homes for the victims of Hurricane Helene
The "Springsteen" singer has announced that he will be donating 40 homes for the people displaced by Hurricane Helene. According to reports, his non-profit organization, the Chief Care Foundation, launched the project "Blueprint for Blue Bridge". The foundation has officially acquired the land outside Newland, Avery County, and is set to begin work for the new housing project this April.
Through the project, Eric Church hopes to establish a community center and a walking trail in the area, with the first set of homes expected to be completed by June. An engineering company has been hired to assist with the construction, as efforts are being made to ensure that the homes are built in areas that will remain safe from future flooding.
"Any time a community needs help, it’s always the community next door that comes running to help. And there are no communities next door. They’ve all been devastated. So we’ve made it our mission at Chief Cares that we’re going to be the community next door." Eric Church said in a statement.
Church further added:
"We’re going to go and keep those people in their community, put a roof over their head, let ’em interact with their community, let ’em be a part of their community, and let ’em help rebuild the community."
Last year, after the devastating floods, the singer had signed over the publishing royalties of his song "The Darkest Hour" to the people of North Carolina.
"From Western North Carolina, East Tennessee, Upstate South Carolina, parts of Georgia and even Florida which took a direct hit, there are so many places that were impacted. Specifically my area, Western North Carolina." Church said.
He further added:
"We've been helping with boots on the ground efforts, but this is something that will live beyond just the immediate recovery. This is not a quick thing to fix, so hopefully ‘Darkest Hour’ will be able to contribute to that for a long time to come. This song goes to my home, North Carolina, now and forever." he added in the caption of the video.
Eric Church had also teamed up with fellow North Carolina natives, Like Combs for the "Concert for Carolina", raising around $24 million for the people affected by the devastating storm.
Hurricane Helene caused catastrophic flooding across six US states, leading to communities being cut off, as the deadly floods left behind a trail of destruction.
