Colleen Hoover, author of the book behind Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni starrer It Ends With Us, allegedly supported Blake Lively amidst her legal feud with co-star Baldoni.
Before recently deactivating her Instagram account, the author posted an Instagram story after Lively filed her complaint against Justin Baldoni. In the story, she tagged Lively and posted an image of her and Lively hugging at a film screening and mentioned,
"@blakelively, you have been nothing but honest, kind, supportive and patient since the day we met. Thank you for being exactly the human that you are. Never change. Never wilt."
Months after the film hit the theaters in August 2024, Lively filed a s*xual harassment complaint against Baldoni on December 20, alleging that Baldoni engaged in misconduct during the production of the film. Since Lively's initial complaint in December, Baldoni denied her allegations and filed a $250 million lawsuit against the New York Times for libel for publishing a story by Lively titled, We Can Bury Anyone: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine.
On January 16, 2024, Baldoni counter-sued Lively with a $400 million lawsuit against her and her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist claiming defamation, and extortion among other charges.
Colleen Hoover to make another film adaptation on Verity
After agreeing to a film adaptation of her bestselling book It Ends with Us, Colleen Hoover has now agreed to another adaptation of her book, Verity. The movie is set to star Dakota Johnson as Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer, and Josh Hartnett opposite Anne Hathway.
Michael Showwalter is set to direct the film with Nick Antosca writing the script after taking inspiration from Colleen Hoover's Verity.
The premise of the film features writer Lowen Ashleigh, who is hired by Jeremy Crawford to work on completing the remaining books in a series planned by his wife, author Verity Crawford.
The film's logline reads,
"Upon arrival at the lavish Crawford estate, Lowen slowly learns that things are not exactly as they seem with the discovery of a secret, unfinished manuscript that may divulge chilling admissions about the family's past. As Lowen integrates herself with Jeremy and his young son Crew, she must discern if Verity's writings are merely lurid works of fiction or an ominous warning by a deranged psychopath."
Written by Colleen Hoover, Verity was self-published in 2018 and was charted on the New York Times best-sellers list, selling more than 1 million copies in 2023 alone.
