YouTubers FaZe Banks and MrBeast, aka James Stephen Donaldson, collaborated on December 17, 2024, to offer an interesting gaming challenge. Participants competed for a prize of $100K. The contest was streamed on Twitch and is speculated to be a part of Beast Games.
FaZe clan member Jasontheween was introducing his partner in the contest, Jasper. He shared how the prize money could help him visit his family, but the moment was disrupted when FaZe Banks knocked food out of his hands. This action disrupted the moment, and MrBeast turned to the camera and said:
“He is clip farming.”
After that, MrBeast asked FaZe Banks to leave the set for allegedly clip farming. He then told the participant not to worry as he had kicked him off the set. For those who are unaware, clip farming happens when someone intentionally performs a controversial or bizarre act in front of a camera.
To break down the meaning, a clip refers to a photo or video depending on the type of media in question. Farming, on the other hand, would mean a practice that is carried out with the sole intention of grabbing viewers’ attention.
According to Urban Dictionary, clip farming is the practice of intentionally performing certain unscripted activities or antics to gain attention. In other words, it’s a process of clickbait generation.
Beast Games will be released on December 19, 2024, on Prime Video. As per reports, MrBeast’s reality competition has shattered world records, despite welcoming a class action lawsuit.
James Stephen Donaldson and his production team were accused of creating a perilous environment. Participants have previously claimed that they were not provided the right compensation for the event.
Who won MrBeast’s 100K challenge?
The participants for the 100K challenge comprised six members of the FaZe clan Rani “Stable Ronaldo,” Jason “Jasontheween,” Max “Plaqueboymax,” Richard “FaZe Banks,” and others.
These members had six partners who were the viewers and fans. Although the contest was expected to continue for several hours, it ended early, with netizens calling it the shortest challenge.
Contestants had to nominate someone to open a sealed briefcase at the end of each round. If the briefcase was empty, the chosen participant was eliminated. However, they would win the competition if it had $100K written.
As the first round came to a close, Plaqueboymax’s partner, Daniel, became the focus with three votes against him. In a surprising turn of events, his briefcase contained the $100K prize, securing his victory in just 10 minutes.
Hypothetically, in case his briefcase remained empty, he would have been eliminated while the other participants would move ahead with the forthcoming rounds. Upon announcing the winner, MrBeast came with a cheque, handed it over to Daniel, and asked him to silence the haters by holding the brand new cheque.
MrBeast’s Beast Games will show how 1000 contestants compete for a prize worth $5 million. The series will have 10 episodes, and while the first two episodes are scheduled to be out on December 19, 2024, the remaining ones will be released weekly. The series will close on February 13, 2025.
