Rapper YFN Lucci finished his 4-year stint in a Georgia prison on January 31 after having been convicted of several charges, including racketeering.

The 33-year-old, whose real name is Rayshawn Lamar Bennett, was let go from the Burruss Correctional Training Center in Monroe County. At the time, his parents, children, friends, and members of his music team were present to greet him, a press release has revealed.

YFN Lucci was indicted in 2021 for charges involving murder, assault, and racketeering. After he entered into a plea deal, 12 of the 13 charges against him were dropped. He then signed on to a decade in prison plus a decade of probation upon his release. At the time, he pleaded guilty to one count of violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

Everything we know about the case against YFN Lucci, and what he will be doing now that he is free from prison

Upon his release, YFN Lucci issued an official statement noting that he is grateful to finally be free:

“I’ve learned a lot during my time away,” YFN Lucci stated. “I’m incredibly grateful for my family and friends—who have stood by me the whole time. Now, it’s my turn to give back. I want to use my voice, my platform, and my music to inspire those who look up to me. I want to show people it’s never too late to make a change. For me, this time is about growth, redemption, and purpose. I’m excited—there’s so much more to come.”

As reported by People Magazine, his legal team, led by Drew Findling, Marissa Goldberg, Gabe Banks, and Pat Dixon, also issued a joint statement on Friday:

“Rayshawn Bennett, widely known as YFN Lucci, was granted early release on parole and walked out of prison this morning to dozens of waiting friends and family,” they said. “He is overjoyed to reunite with his children, his family, and his music. He will waste no time releasing new music and getting back on stage to perform for his fans.”

YFN Lucci was indicted on 105 counts after a six-month-long investigation. Fox 5 News has reported that the investigation found that Lucci and several others engaged in nefarious criminal activity to protect the reputation of their gang, the Bloods gang, and to assert dominance.

He was also charged with murder as police identified him as the driver in a drive-by shooting that claimed the life of a man. The case was being led by Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis at the time, and after he entered into the plea deal, the state agreed to let the rapper appeal for parole.

Girvan "Fly" Henry, CEO of Think It’s A Game Records, also issued a statement, noting that the label was “beyond thrilled” to see the rapper finally free:

“His release marks not only a personal victory but also a moment of triumph for his family, his fans, and the entire Think It’s A Game Records family,” Henry said “Throughout his time away, Lucci’s resilience and unwavering dedication to his craft have only grown stronger. We’ve always believed in him, and we continue to stand by him as he moves forward on his journey. Lucci’s return signifies the beginning of a new chapter — both in his career and in his life. We are excited to watch him continue to inspire, elevate, and create meaningful change through his music and his actions. The best is yet to come.”

As part of his deal, YFN Lucci is mandated to work and be subjected to drug testing. He is also prohibited from contacting any of the other defendants of the 2021 case or any other member of a criminal gang.

He is also prohibited from owning or carrying a weapon, and cannot leave Georgia without permission. Fox News has reported that the rapper will be living in his mother's home while serving parole.
