Rapper Young Thug is officially released from prison after a long-running trial in court. The 33-year-old rapper pleaded guilty in the criminal case which accused him of leading a violent street gang in Atlanta.
Young Thug was taken into police custody along with 27 others in May 2022. The arrests were made for 56 count violations of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act of Georgia.
According to reports, the rapper pleaded guilty in Georgia to multiple counts, including possession of firearms and drugs. Moreover, he also pleaded no contest to others in the racketeering accusations that alleged he was the leader of Young Slime Life (YSL).
Per Billboard, Thug confirmed that he took full responsibility for his crimes and charges. He also addressed his influence on the community.
"I know what I bring to the table and I know what I am. I know the heights I’ve reached and I know the impact I’ve got on people in the community."
He was sentenced to 15 years probation and no prison time on Thursday.
As the news broke about Young Thug returning home, his close friend and fellow rapper Lil Baby was seen celebrating. For the unversed, Thug is one of the artists who Lil Baby considers as his mentor. Moreover, the two have also collaborated on several songs, including Bad Bad Bad, We Should, and more.
Celebrating his return, Thug took to his X (formerly Twitter) and wrote,
"Real plea deal jack!" in relation to the hearing.
He also asked Wham, aka Lil Baby, to drop a new song. However, many are speculating that he dissed Gunna via his tweet.
"Wham let’s drop one on these rats peter."
Reacting to the tweets, Lil Baby wrote on his Instagram story,
"I missed you m*!! Welcome home my brudda! Thank God you able to get back to the fam in good health and spirits! Wish ya none but billions jack!"
Travis Scott, T.I., and more also react to Young Thug's return from prison
Travis Scott took to his Instagram stories to react to Young Thug's release from prison. He wrote, "bruddda otw home," and added a series of brown heart emojis. The two have collaborated on the track FRANCHISE.
T.I. also took to his Instagram handle to drop a carousel of photos with Thug. In the caption, the rapper mentioned how the 33-year-old must get back to making music.
"Welcome Home lil bruddah It’s been too long... Time to get back to it!!! #KingJeffrey"
Young Thug's fans are also seemingly happy about his return. However, some are concerned that he is not allowed to travel in metro in Atlanta. Thug is also restricted from contacting any gang members during his probation. Moreover, he has to do community service which will include giving presentations to people against gang violence.
