Jennifer's Body 2 might be an anticipated horror film from people who loved the first comedy horror film, Jennifer's Body. The first film was released on September 18, 2009, and was a critical and commercial success. Amanda Seyfried played the role of Anita Lesnicki aka Needy.
Recently, the actress shared an update about the sequel, which might excite people who enjoyed the 2009 horror flick. The actress has nearly confirmed that a sequel might be under work. So let us take a look into her comments on Jennifer's Body 2 as well as a brief history of the first film.
Amanda Seyfried spills beans on Jennifer's Body 2
Amanda Seyfried was attending a screening of her Canadian drama film Seven Veils. She has dropped a hint about Jennifer's Body 2 and stated that it is under work but did not confirm the same. In a video dropped on TikTok, the actress said:
"I think we're making another one. I didn't confirm it! I said, "I think. We're working on it."
This confession of Seyfried was met with a strong response from people on the internet. In 2024, Jennifer's Body 2 was first teased by Diablo Cody, who wrote the first film. Cody stated that she would like to make another film and continue the franchise. She stated that she is looking for people who would like to produce her story. Earlier, Megan Fox (who played the lead role of Jennifer Check in the first film) had shown her interest in doing a sequel.
The first film, directed by Karyn Kusama, follows a high school student who becomes possessed by a demon and must consume human flesh to survive. Released on September 18, 2009, it initially struggled at the box office, largely due to a marketing campaign that prioritized Megan Fox’s sensual appeal and targeted a male audience. However, in the years since the film has been reevaluated and praised for its strong feminist themes. In a November 2023 interview with WWD, Fox said that her role in the film is an apt representation of who she is in real life. She said,
“I feel like that’s such a good representation of who I am in general. [B]efore she was turned into a demon and she became this Goth icon, was this poppy, typical cheerleader, Forever 21 girl."
