Atlanta radio personality and beloved comedian Wanda Smith has reportedly passed away. She was 58 years old. Comedian Loni Love announced the news of her death on social media, however, the cause of demise was undisclosed. The precise date of Smith’s passing is also unclear.

Smith rose to fame as a radio host on V-103’s Frank and Wanda in the Morning show. On Sunday, October 13, 2024, comedian Loni Love took to X to announce the passing of the revered radio personality. Part of the post read,

“She was the ultimate entertainer. Rest now, Sis. Condolences to The Smith Family."

While tributes came pouring in the wake of the announcement, Smith’s family has yet to issue an official statement on the tragic loss. Wanda Smith was married to LaMorris Sellers. She is survived by her husband, two sons and a granddaughter.


What we know about Wanda Smith and her family

Smith was a Miami native who rose to fame as an Atlanta radio host, co-hosting the radio show Frank and Wanda in the Morning. Smith co-hosted with Frank Ski from 1998 to 2012 until the latter was replaced by Ryan Cameron in 2014. According to Atlanta News First, Ski rejoined the show in 2018. However, after co-hosting the show for more than two decades, Smith was let go on January 2019.

According to Rolling Out, Smith died a day after celebrating her birthday. While we cannot confirm her birthday, an old Facebook post dated from 2018 showed radio channel V-103 celebrating Smith’s birthday on October 11.

While several comedians have paid tribute to the late radio host, Smith’s family has yet to comment on her passing. Smith was married to LaMorris Sellers.

In 2018, Smith’s husband LaMorris Sellers made headlines over an alleged altercation with comedian Katt Williams. Williams accused Sellers of pointing a gun at him in the parking lot of the Atlanta Comedy Club in Norcross, Georgia, a week after the comedian roasted Wanda Smith in a viral interview.

Smith was also a mother to two sons, Giovanni and Tavares. In 2017, she celebrated the birth of her first granddaughter Taylor, fathered by her son Tavares.

Smith's son Tavares posted a tribute on Facebook on October 11, 2024. The post included a picture of the mother-son duo with the caption, "I love mom."


Tributes pour in as Smith passes away

As the news of Smith’s passing spread online, several fans took to social media to mourn the loss of the beloved radio personality and comedian known for her infectious laughter. A fan wrote on X:

“RIP Wanda Smith. She was so funny on V-103 with Frankski. I send her son, husband, and loved ones my condolences.”
Another added, “Oh my. Condolences to the Wanda Smith Family and all of her Atlanta and National Fans. My Lord.”

Several people echoed the statement.

Smith also started the organization Girls Stand Together, Inc., which “empowers young girls to be amazing young women.”

Smith appeared in several films, including Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail and Madea’s Witness Protection.
