"She's spoiled, she's very much a woman-child and a narcissist — a lot of that is due to her sensitivity and her wanting to escape, which she does through taking pills."

Parker Posey was born on November 8, 1968, in Monroe, Louisiana, and later grew up in Laurel, Mississippi, where she attended Laurel High School. In her interview with Harper's Bazar, the "You Have Got Mail" actress recounted how, as a young girl, she dreamt of becoming a ballet dancer. However, after failing to be selected for professional ballet training, she turned her focus to acting on the recommendation of a teacher.

“I didn't get in and I was devastated . And my dad called the dean of the school. He said, ‘My daughter's going to be really upset. What do I tell her?’ And the dean said, ‘Tell her she's an actress.’”

The "Thelma" actress later went to university to study drama but never graduated, as she left school after landing a major TV role in the classic soap opera "As the World Turns," where she played the character of Tess Shelby.
