Kim Kardashian will be testifying in court in France in May this year for the 2016 Paris theft, where she was allegedly tied up, held at gunpoint, and robbed of jewelry worth around $10 million in her own apartment. Kardashian was in Paris for the Fashion Week. The trial is scheduled from April 28 to May 23, 2025.

Michael Rhodes, who is Kardashian's lawyer, released a statement to news agencies, including the Associated Press.

He went on,

“We can confirm that Ms. Kardashian will be testifying in person at the upcoming French criminal trial involving the 2016 incident in which she was bound and robbed at gunpoint by a number of masked assailants.”

Her lawyer, Rhodes, speaking about Kardashian, said that she has "tremendous appreciation and admiration for the French judicial system" and fully trusts the French legal system. He also mentioned that she hopes everything goes well "in an orderly fashion in accordance with French law and with respect for all parties to the case."

The Paris robbery happened in October 2016

In October of 2016, Kim Kardashian was in Paris for Fashion Week. She stayed at the same private luxury apartment that she always used when she stayed in Paris. Five men broke into her apartment pretending to be police officers.

According to rumors and Kim Kardashian's own testimony, she was gagged, tied up with zip ties and tape, and kept in the toilet while the perpetrators took around $10 million in jewels.

One of the stolen items was a $4 million engagement ring given by her then-husband, Kanye West. Yunice Abbas, one of the thieves, is said to have dropped a $34,000 diamond-encrusted crucifix as he fled the scene, which was subsequently retrieved by a passerby. Much of the stolen jewelry was never recovered and is thought to have been transported to Belgium and sold.

Kanye West, who was then her husband, had stopped his performance at his concert in New York as soon as he heard about the news. He apologized to the crowd and told them he had a family emergency.

He could be heard saying,

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Stop it. I'm sorry. There's a family emergency we have to stop the show."

Kim Kardashian talks about her traumatic experience

Kim Kardashian opened up about the traumatic experience on The Kardashians. In a 2017 episode, she sobbed about feeling she was going to be r*ped and k*lled. She recounted when one of the robbers pointed a revolver at her while she was duct-taped and zip-tied.

She has continued to discuss the incident's long-term impact in her Hulu series The Kardashians, stating that it significantly altered her behavior and emotional responses.

She recalled,

“I remember him telling me, ‘Just stay calm, and you’ll live. And I did that. But I think I’ve let it get too calm… I’m just turning into a full robot with like, no emotion.”

The trial starts on April 28 and ends on May 23, 2025, and Kim Kardashian is set to testify in it.
