Though the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) recently got its first proper family with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, we have seen a couple of them before, the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. For the latter one, Amanda Seyfried was offered the role of Gamora in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy, but she turned it down, thinking that the film was going to be the first Marvel bomb. She was wrong.

Recently, she appeared on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, where she discussed this. She said

"I thought that because this was about a talking tree and a talking raccoon, that it was going to be Marvel's first bomb and that Chris Pratt and I would never work again. It was wrong; I was wrong."

But Amanda defended her logic and continued,

"That line of thinking is not insane; I was just being smart."

Following the release, James Gunn's talking tree and the raccoon movie went on to earn $773 million. And we got a couple of sequels, with the crew appearing in the future Avengers movies and Thor: Love and Thunder.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe then ended up with Oscar winner Zoe Saldana as Gamora

Where is Gamora? Who is Gamora? Why is Gamora? To answer the first, Gamora is dead, though her version from the past is still alive. For the second, Zoe Saldana, who recently won an Oscar for Emilia Perez, is Gamora. No one has the answer to the third question Drax the Destroyer asks in Avengers: Infinity War.

In 2013, Zoe Saldana entered negotiations to play the character. Regarding this, she said,

"I was just excited to be asked to join by James Gunn and to also play someone green. I've been blue before [in Avatar]."

As of now, Zoe Saldana has appeared in four of the seven highest-grossing movies of all time.

Other than Zoe Saldana, Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, and more in the film. Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper also appear in voice roles as Groot (the talking tree) and Rocket (the talking raccoon).

While talking to Variety last year, she seems like she's moved on from Gamora. She said,

"Let it be a brown girl to play Gamora. Give that opportunity to a woman of color and see what the new Gamora is going to bring to the table."

The future of the Guardians of the Galaxy is uncertain at the moment, but if they are to appear in the next big project, like Avengers: Secret Wars, we may see them minus Gamora.
