Christopher Abbott plays a dad who turns into a werewolf in Leigh Whannell's Wolf Man. It is scary but initially failed to attract the love of the audience which the original film, The Wolf Man, released in 1941 garnered. But it's scary; the setting makes it so, especially as it is set in a remote region surrounded by forests.

Recently, the creators of the film dropped a short sneak peek behind the scenes where the director and cast members talked about their time during the filming. The video shared on Universal Pcitures' official YouTube channel also gives us a glimpse of a few scenes that make the film scary in the first place.

The very beginning of the behind-the-scenes video sees Wolf Man director explaining the essence of making the film, for which he says:

"When you're making a film called Wolf Man, it needs to be scary."

It then cuts to the scene where the family first encounters the creature in it and Blake Lovell (Christopher Abott) gets a scratch that later becomes the reason for his transformation. The video then goes on to talk about how a threat that began from outside shifts to the inside of a house. Interestingly, the dad who wants to protect the family himself becomes a threat.

Though it failed to live up to the bar that the original film set, Whannell feels that it gave him what he wanted. He explained:

"It's tragic, it's terrifying, and it's everything I wanted. We are going to start a new era for The Wolf Man."

As for now, the film has received average ratings, with IMDb giving it 6.1 out of 10 at the time of writing and having a 54% approval on Rotten Tomatoes. On the contrary, the 1941 film still sits fresh with 91% approval on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.2 on IMDb.

The narrative of Wolf Man follows the story of a family who encounters a werewolf and tries to hide from him in their home. However, the father slowly turns into a werewolf after he gets infected by a scratch from the creature. This slowly takes his ability to understand humans and eventually leads to a painful end.

Although it is set up in Oregon but was shot in the regions of New Zealand, including Mangarao, Wellington, and Queenstown for the scenic beauty. It garnered $1.4 million in previews and is now eyeing $12 million over the weekend, according to Variety.
