“Trump was rooting for the Chiefs too” - Fans defend Taylor Swift as President mocks singer during Eagles' White House visit

On Monday, Donald Trump invited the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House to honor them in the yearly tradition reserved for the champions of the Super Bowl. But during his address, the President suddenly made a comment about Taylor Swift that has now enraged fans, with many rallying to her support on social media. One fan pointed out that he was, in fact, supporting the Kansas City Chiefs, after Trump seemed to suggest his presence might have helped the Philadelphia Eagles win. They said:

"Trump rooted for the chiefs"

This is not the first time the President has made remarks about Taylor Swift. Back in 2024, in the run-up to the Presidential elections, Taylor Swift had endorsed Kamala Harris, leading Trump to make a string of comments about her, adding that he was “not a fan of Taylor Swift,” during his appearance on Fox & Friends.

Donald Trump, while addressing the players of the Philadelphia Eagles, said that he was thrilled to welcome the team to the White House.

"It’s an honor to be with this incredible group of champions, great team, and we’re thrilled to welcome everyone to the White House, it’s a special place to celebrate the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles."

He further added:

“That was a special day, that was a big one. But the Eagles have turned out to be an incredible team, with an incredible group with a fantastic coach and coaches and having you at the White House is very, very special and important, and we appreciate you being here.”

Soon after he praised Jalen Hurts for his exceptional performance this season, Trump shifted his attention to Taylor Swift. He suggested that his presence at the stadium had an alleged positive effect on the team. In contrast, Taylor Swift’s support of the Chiefs—led by Travis Kelce, who is in a relationship with the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” singer—led them to lose the game. He said:

"From the first quarter of the big game, I was there, I watched in person. I was there along with Taylor Swift. How did that work out? How did that one work out?”

A legion of Taylor Swift's supportive fans have come together to dismiss such myths and accusations.

Donald Trump, who had previously predicted that the Kansas City Chiefs would win and fulfill the never-before-achieved goal of three Super Bowl wins, a feat that has never been accomplished, left the stadium early when it became apparent that the Kansas City Chiefs were going to lose the game.
