Almost a week ago, a news went viral accusing rapper Shawn Corey Carter aka Jay-Z of s*xually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 2000 along with hip-hop mogul Diddy. However, the Albama-based woman has claimed inconsistencies in her allegation.
As per an NBC News exclusive, the accuser, Jane Doe, said she might have made some mistakes in her claims. Despite that, she stood by her allegations as the inconsistencies did not mean her claims were false. Jay-Z shared a statement with NBC News about this development by criticizing lawyer Tony Buzbee, who filed the lawsuit, saying,
“This incident didn’t happen and yet he filed it in court and doubled down in the press. True Justice is coming. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. This was over before it began. This 1-800 lawyer doesn’t realize it yet, but, soon.”
Buzbee stated that his firm is thoroughly reviewing Jane Doe’s claims, which were initially vetted by another party before being referred. He noted that the client was resolute about the truthfulness of her account and had even volunteered to undergo a polygraph test.
Jay-Z's attorney, Alex Spiro, criticized the lawsuit, stating it lacked proper vetting and accused the legal team of spreading false information in the media. He indicated they would seek the court's dismissal of the case and pursue disciplinary action against Buzbee and the attorneys involved.
Moreover, Diddy’s legal team described the lawsuit as a baseless attempt for financial gain, noting that Buzbee has filed over 20 lawsuits against the hip-hop mogul.
Exploring the inconsistencies in Jane Doe’s claims against Jay-Z
Jane Doe had previously alleged that one of Diddy’s drivers helped her get access to an MTV afterparty where she was made to sign some papers. After entering the party, she had a drink which made her feel lightheaded. She alleged that Jay-Z and Diddy entered the room and the latter took off her clothes and r*ped her.
When he insisted on having oral s*x, Jane Doe protested and left the room with her clothes. She then went to a nearby gas station and called her father. However, her father did not have any memory of that.
Buzbee addressed the father's lack of recollection, noting that his daughter attributed it to personal challenges he was facing at the time. He emphasized that the events in question occurred over two decades ago.
Among other inaccuracies in her lawsuit, she alleged that she spoke to a celebrity during the party but that individual claimed he was not in New York at that time. Moreover, it is now being reported that Jay-Z and Diddy were at different locations on that day, though it’s unclear where they were at that time.
Another fact for which the truth could not be established was the age of the friend who drove Jane Doe to New York City in the first place. The media outlet was provided with the person's name and date of birth but the report stated that the individual was no more alive.
