Katie Holmes took to Instagram on December 8 to deny rumors that her ex-husband, Tom Cruise, provided a million-dollar inheritance to their 18-year-old daughter Suri.
Her post featured a screenshot of an article from Daily Mail with the headline - "Suri Cruise the millionaire! Tom Cruise's trust fund has 'kicked in,' and mom Katie Holmes has one for her too.
While addressing the rumors, Katie said, "Completely False" and "Daily Mail you can stop making stuff up." She captioned the post with "Enough."
The article by Daily Mail alleges that Suri would receive a trust fund from Tom Cruise once she becomes an adult. The outlet cited "divorce documents from 2012" as the source. As per the outlet, Suri would receive a part of the trust fund once she reaches 18 and in full once she reaches her thirties.
As per Celebrity Net Worth, Tom Cruise is reportedly worth over $600M.
More about Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's divorce
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise were married from 2006 to 2012 and welcomed their daughter Suri in 2006. Although the two have not explicitly spoken about the reason behind their split, it is rumored that Holmes' filed the divorce to free her daughter from Cruise's religion; Scientology.
During his deposition against Bauer Media Cruise, the tabloids claimed that the actor had abandoned his daughter, Suri. Cruise was asked if Holmes left him "in part to protect Suri from Scientology."
The actor responded, "There is no need to protect Suri from my religion." However, as per ABC News, when he was asked again if Holmes mentioned that the reason behind the split was her trying to protect her daughter from Scientology, the actor said, "Did she say that? That was one of the assertations, yes."
Holmes received primary custody of Suri from the divorce, and Cruise was allowed ample visitation. However, In Touch Weekly reported that the actor hadn't seen his daughter or spoken to her in over 1,000 days.
Ron Miscavige, the late estranged father of Scientology head David Miscavige, Sea Org staff, lived in their house to keep an eye on the Hollywood couple and cater to their every need. The late father, while speaking to Daily Mail in 2016, said that Katie and Tom had "big differences about the way life should be lived," and it created "an oppressive and controlling environment for the young star," and Holmes planned a strategic escape.
