Tom Cruise will begin preparing for a new project after he finishes his latest collaboration with Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
This update comes from a pre-BAFTA party with the who's who of Hollywood. Per Deadline's report, many of the attendees were this year's nominees from Anora's Milkey Madison, I’m Still Here’s Fernanda Torres to Hard Truths' Marianne Jean-Baptiste. Demi Moore, who is currently nominated for her transformative performance in The Substance, was also a part of this celebration. She was joined by her A Few Good Men co-star, Tom Cruise.
According to reports, Cruise will soon return to cinemas with the new Mission: Impossible film, scheduled to be released on May 23, 2025. He has a few other projects in his pipeline including the film by Academy Award-winning director Alejandro G. Iñárritu. After this, he will reportedly start prepping for a new film, per a Deadline columnist. During their interaction, the M.I. star said,
“I’m editing a film [MI: The Final Reckoning], I’m shooting another [Iñárritu’s] and prepping the next one.”
When asked to name this "next" film, Cruise said,
"I can’t say.”
So, it might be one of his reported upcoming collaborations with director Christopher McQuarrie. However, Cruise neither accepted nor denied either of these projects as the "next" project he is going in prep for.

Tom Cruise was a part of a star-studded pre-BAFTA party and during this event, a Deadline columnist had a conversation with him. Cruise revealed that he is currently in the post-production process of Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, for which Paramount Pictures released a brief teaser during Super Bowl LIX.
Cruise revealed that he is shooting for his new film with director Alejandro G. Iñárritu, popular for his Oscar-winning Birdman and The Revenant. After this collaboration, Cruise will be "prepping for the next one [film]". However, he did not specify any project.
Upon being asked whether it is one of his reported collaborations with Christopher McQuarrie - Broadsword or The Gauntlet, Cruise said that he can't answer. So, it might be one of these projects or a new film that is yet to be known. Regardless, this Deadline report teases Cruise's fans for another one of his future projects.
While the future is uncertain, Cruise is currently in production of Inarittu's film. Its official synopsis, per IMDb, currently reads:
