Tina Knowles shared with CNN News Central on Friday, April 25, that she put her daughters, Beyoncé and Solange, in therapy when they were kids. She did so because she did not want the two girls, who were very different, to have a wall between them. She further stated that the result of that decision was “great” because the two sisters became closer.
Tina Knowles, 71, is the mother of Beyoncé and Solange Knowles and has been raising Kelly Rowland since she was 11. She released her memoir, Matriarch, on April 22. In her memoir, Knowles reportedly shares in detail her journey with breast cancer, being the mother of famous musicians, etc.

According to People Magazine, Knowles shared with anchor Sara Sidner on CNN News Central that when Beyoncé was about 10, she joined a singing group and had rehearsals in the Knowles’ house. Solange, a few years younger than Beyoncé, reportedly wanted to be involved, but the other girls did not want her involved.
And the kids would say to Solange every day, 'Be quiet, Solange,' because she would try to choreograph and, you know, she wanted to be involved.
She further stated that:
And then I started noticing that Beyonce would allow them to talk to her like that ,or she would say, 'OK, Mom, can you get Solange out of here? (....) And I told her all the things, you know, how important it was for her. But finally, I realized that they weren't listening, and I saw a wall between them coming, and so I got them in therapy.
She continued to explain that although Beyoncé hated going to the therapist, Solange loved it because she loved talking and expressing herself. The outcome of the therapy, as Tina Knowles shared, was great because the sisters “had been super tight since.”
