Steve Carell and Tina Fey are friends!
As per a recent article by Hollywood Reporter, actress Tina Fey recently revealed that she and Carell were extremely shy when they were filming the movie Date Night together and that it took them 15 years to build a strong friendship.
The actress elaborated that both the actors used to sit in silence together during the shoots.
"Steve Carell and I made a whole movie together without ever breaking through to the other side because we’re both very shy. Without anyone to make us talk, he and I would both sit in polite silence. After working with this big group, I feel like Steve and I are actually all-the-way friends now." The actress told Hollywood Reporter
To this, Carell agreed and said that they had a great time together but didn't speak much to each other.
"We had a great time together before, but we are super shy. This is about as gregarious as you will ever see me, right now, in this interview"
Carell further said that they both are quite similar to each other and didn't want to disturb each other. Once they became good friends with each other, he realized that Fey was fun to be with.
"So, the two of us, I think we're very similar in that we don't want to bug the other — it's like, 'I shouldn't text her, should I call her? No, she's got kids, and they're busy.' But she was thinking the same thing, and we're very protective of each other that way, I know she's got a lot going on. So, yeah, on this one we became buds. It was really fun, she's the best."
The actors recently appeared together at the premiere of Netflix's The Four Seasons. Carell amicably told the Hollywood Reporter that despite being shy, it took them 15 years to finally become super tight besties. The series sees Carell and Fey unite on screen after a long time.
Carrell further told the publication that he agreed instantly to the project as soon as he heard that Fey was also starring in it.
“I was in instantly. You can’t say no to Tina Fey,” ‘What is it?’ I don’t even care, sounds great. ‘I haven’t explained it to you Steve.’ It doesn’t matter.”
In a 2010 interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actors joked about what would happen if the characters of Michael Scott, the regional manager of Dunder Mifflin from The Office, and Liz Lemon from 30 Rock went on a date together.
"Oh, Liz Lemon would f--- it up," Fey told Entertainment Weekly. "Michael Scott would probably be very open, but Liz Lemon would be sour and judgmental and she'd blow it."
Meanwhile, Carell had a different opinion and that Lemon would never agree to go out with Scott.
"Blow it? With Michael?" Carell said. "I don't think there's any way she would agree to go out with Michael Scott unless she had been tricked into it. I don't think you go from Jon Hamm to Michael Scott. Michael Scott should be so lucky."
