Timothee Chalamet recently sat down with Zane Lowe to promote his Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown. While talking about the film, the actor revealed that he could relate to some aspects of Bob Dylan and discussed that he once received feedback about his body,

"I've had a life experience, I don't want to say it's weird, but I can relate to some of these things he went through. Bob wanted to be a rock & roll star - Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Elvis Presley - that was the sort of, depending on your point of view, the sort of rice crispy pop, rock & roll music that was saturated and marketed to kids in the late 50s. Equally, I wanted to be a big movie star."

The actor continued that when he went to audition for certain roles, he was asked to put on weight,

"But if I auditioned for the The Maze Runner or Divergent, things of that variety that were popping when I was coming up - the feedback was always like, 'Oh, you don't have the right body. I had an agent that called me and said, 'You got to put on weight', basically, not aggressively, but you know."

The actor shed 20 pounds for his 2018 movie Beautiful Boy to play Nic Sheff.

"I found my way into these personalized movies" - says Timothee Chalamet

While talking about being body shamed for his skinny frame and not getting the roles he auditioned for, Timothee Chalamet added that he went on to star in roles where he didn't have to change, crafting his own unique style.

"I found my way into these very personalized movies."

He compared finding his "rhythm" with Bob Dylan, who also found him in filk music. The actor said that personable movies like Beautiful Boy, Lady Bird, and Little Women were the ones where he "found my rhythm, my confidence, my flow, whatever you want to call it."

It's safe to say that Timothee's approach to taking on personalized roles worked well for his career. After starting with the 2014 movie Men, Women & Children, Timothee played several minor roles before gaining recognition in 2017's Call Me By Your Name. His upcoming biopic on Bob Dylan is all set to hit the theatres on December 25, 2024.

Timothee Chalamet will also play Alexander the Great in the film Alexander, which will be released in 2025.
