Thunderbolts* is the latest MCU project that brings many exciting faces together. They all will play antiheroes paired and recruited by the government to go on an important mission.

Thunderbolts* will show Sebastian Stan returning to the screen by reprising his iconic role as Bucky Barnes AKA the Winter Soldier. Florence Pugh (Black Widow) will reprise her role as Yelena Belova, a black widow whereas Hannah John-Kamen will return as Ava Starr AKA Ghost after playing the same role in MCU's Ant-Man and the Wasp.

David Harbour (Stranger Things) will play Alexei Shostakov AKA Red Guardian while Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) as Antonia Dreykov AKA Taskmaster as they did Black Widow. Wyatt Russell will also return as John Walker, a US agent, after playing this role in shows like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and What If...?.

According to the Marvel Updates, the real villain is Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Let's dig a bit more into her character and understand who she plays in this new Marvel project.

Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick) will play Sentry whereas Geraldine Viswanathan (Blockers) will star as Mel (which probably means she is joining the cast as Melissa Gold AKA Songbird).

While the fans knew who most of these villains were, it was not completely clear who the real antihero would be behind their mission.

The real villain in Thunderbolts*: Details explored

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is all set to make a swooping comeback with Captain America: Brave New World. Besides Anthony Mackie as the present Captain America, Harrison Ford's furious Red Hulk has been making waves since the release of its teasers and it might just help this flick reach the box office heights and make big numbers. However, that is not the only MCU project slated to come out in 2025.

There is also Thunderbolts* (yes, with an asterisk!), which is reportedly going to be released in the theaters on May 2, 2025. Fans may have to wait for the movie to come out what that asterisk stands for.

Not much has been revealed about Julia Louis-Dreyfus's character in Thunderbolts* yet. Based on the reports, she will play Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the CIA director, who will be working with Belova, Walker, and other antiheroes. While speaking at Comic-Con about her character, the actress said:

“Val is after power, control, and just generally she wants to kick a** in the Marvel [Cinematic] Universe" (MCU)."

Louis-Dreyfus is a multiple Emmy-winning actress, who is most popular for roles in comedy shows like Seinfeld, Veep, and The New Adventures of Old Christine.
