While speaking to Fox News Digital, Country singer Carly Pearce shed light on her health after she was diagnosed with Pericarditis, a heart condition. Pericarditis is inflammation or swelling of the thin sac-like tissue surrounding the heart, as per the Mayo Clinic.
"I'm doing a lot better. I'm still … on a health journey in general … to continue to hope that this recurrent pericarditis isn't recurrent."
Pearce revealed that her health condition was initially "dismissed" by healthcare professionals, and she continued to insist on the doctors until she received answers.
"My biggest piece of advice for anybody is: Listen to your body, and be your own advocate...a lot of doctors dismissed me, and I was persistent until I got a diagnosis."
Carly Pearce was diagnosed with Pericarditis five years ago, but went public with it only last year. The singer, in an Instagram post on Thursday, posted a video clip where she spoke in detail about her health, noting,
"Hey ya'll I have always been transparent and honest about every part of my life, so I feel like this deserves the same honesty. You guys know that I've been dealing with some health issues and through that I have developed something called pericarditis, which is a heart issue."
Carly Pearce's health condition has affected her capability to sing,
"I've been working with doctors and talking to my cardiologist and I still want to be out on the road, it's really important to me, but we have all decided that it is in my best interest as I am healing to alter my shows a little bit."
How will Carly Pearce's health condition affect her Hummingbird tour
Country singer Carly Pearce has been on the road for her Hummingbird tour with Tim McGraw. Earlier, in an Instagram post on February 24, Carly mentioned that despite her sickness, she would finish the tour "strong." In the post, Carly can be seen on the bed holding a tissue and sporting a peace sign, with the caption mentioning,
"Y'all, the last few days I have been battling feeling sick but yesterday the flu hit me right in the face. God has a funny sense of humour sometimes...these shows are some of the biggest sold out shows of my career & of course this would happen, right?"
However, she added,
"BUT!!! With the help of my doctor & team, we WILL finish out this tour strong and I will give you EVERYTHING I have"
Her most recent concert was in Mashantucket, CT, on March 29, following a 12-day break, and the singer will be next seen performing in Columbus, OH, on April 10.
