Mickey 17, Bong Joon-ho's latest project, seems to be on a solid path as the new trailer shows things escalating for its central character, played by Robert Pattinson.

Mickey 17 marks director Bong Joon-ho's latest English-language film after 2013's Snowpiercer and 2017's Okja. The film, which will premiere at the upcoming Berlin Film Festival, has been stuck with release date delays for a long time. It will finally see the light of day as it will be theatrically released on March 7, 2025, shortly after its Berlinale premiere.

The film, based on Ashton Edward's novel, shows Robert Pattinson playing multiple versions of an "expendable" employee, Mickey Barnes being tasked with invading a planet. Its first trailer dropped back in September 2024, which laid the foundation of its basic storyline.

Now, the latest official trailer shows Pattinson's Mickey in more pain and trouble as it reveals more details about this sci-fi black comedy.

The film's official synopsis as mentioned underneath the trailer reads:

"The unlikely hero, Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) has found himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living."

Robert Pattinson's Mickey 17: A brand-new trailer amps up the excitement for the sci-fi black comedy

Bong Joon-ho is set to return with Mickey 17, his latest sci-fi film after his multiple Oscar win for 2019's Parasite. It shows him returning to his roots of black comedy to critique the aspects of our present-day world with a clever twist. Its first trailer, which came out nearly four months ago, introduced Robert Pattinson as Mickey Barnes.

It showed Mickey enlisting as an "expendable," a disposable employee for an organization that wants him to conquer a planet. During this pursuit, Mickey must die and return in the form of his alternate version. So, his previous version must die for him to continue with his mission. Things take a wrong turn when one of his versions doesn't die, leading to his "multiples" to simultaneously exist.

Mickey 17's newly released second trailer shows Mickey's two versions facing the wrath of their organization as they make this unforgivable mistake. So, one of them will ultimately be forced to die.

The new clip shows Mickey getting exposed to a harmful virus, potentially leading to all sorts of troubles like him coughing up blood. It also shows him presumably standing up against Mark Ruffalo's character, who looks like an authority figure in their establishment.

Pattinson and Ruffalo are joined in Mickey 17's cast by Oscar-nominated actors like Toni Collette and Steven Yeun, besides Naomi Ackie, Anamaria Vartolomei, and Cameron Britton.
