Things are as absurd as ever in the trailer for the final season of The Righteous Gemstones

The much-awaited trailer of The Righteous Gemstones final season was recently released on the internet. It has reportedly stirred all the fans of the HBO comedy-drama television series. The fourth season will conclude the show, and it will be released on March 9, 2025.

The show premiered in 2019 and has since been well-received by viewers. The success of the first season prompted the makers to commission two more seasons that were also well-received. The trailer for Season 4 is quite absurd and goes in sync with the mood of the show.

The official synopsis of the final season reads,

The Righteous Gemstones’ tells the story of a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed, and charitable work. Despite constant bickering, Gemstone family ties run deep, and this season, the family’s codependence is tested as they attempt to move forward without letting go of their storied past.

HBO released the first teaser trailer for The Righteous Gemstones Season 4. The one-minute and 34 seconds long video captures the absurdity the show is known for. The video showcases Baby Billy Freeman (played by Walton Goggins) as he is trying to make a television show about the teenage years of Jesus. Meanwhile, Eli Gemstone (played by John Goodman) is enjoying his life on an expensive yacht.

Just like all the previous seasons, The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 will also have nine episodes in total. It will premiere on March 9, 2025, on HBO, while its finale episode will drop on May 4.

Season 4 will have Goodman, Danny McBride, Troy Hogan, Adam Devine, Cassidy Freeman, Edi Patterson, Tim Baltz, Tony Cavalero, Jody Hill, Skyler Gisondo, Greg Alan Williams, Goggins, James DuMont, and Jennifer Nettles, among others.

Danny McBride is the creator of The Righteous Gemstones, and it revolves around a family of televangelists. The first season premiered on August 18, 2019, and was well received. That led to the second season, which came out on January 9, 2022. A third season ran between June 18 and July 30. It was reported that the show will come to an end with its fourth season.

Speaking to GQ, McBride revealed how he decided to end the show with Season 4. He said,

"I don't know—it felt natural. I wrote the pilot for (the show) in 2017, so when I finish up post [on Season 4], I'll have been on this show for almost eight years. It doesn't seem like that, because we had a pandemic in the middle and a strike. But, yeah—the story came to me, and it felt like it was a story that was bringing all these themes and these ideas and these characters to a conclusion, to something that felt like completion."

The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 will be out on March 9, 2025.
