Memphis rapper GloRilla caught the world's attention when on September 26, she expressed her frustrations with Rod Wave's announcement on Instagram.

Rod Wave divulged that his upcoming album, Last Lap, will come out on October 11, the same day as GloRilla's own album, Glorious.

GloRilla expressed what she thought was an injustice. It's unclear if she did so begrudgingly or jokingly. She stated in the comments section of the post:

“WHY DF WOULD YOU DROP ON MY DAY I’M FINNA TWEAK OUT.”

Rod Wave retorted, admitting that he would not be budging. He posted a picture of him alongside GloRilla on his Instagram stories, and the caption read:

“La twin drop same night."

Fans jump to GloRilla's defense, claims she's the better artist

The internet was ablaze with opinions, as many chimed in to speculate on just how much the clash would impact either artist's reach, and if it were worthy enough to be dubbed a "Barbenheimer" moment.

"They have a whole different target audience, and music free to stream [laughing emoji] they still going to stream both," one user shared.

"I’d rather listen to a glo album 😂 and that’s no knock to him he make good music but I don’t feel like being sad all day," another decided.
"Neither one of them are taking away from each others numbers anyway. Tf she on about," yet another quipped.

The comments didn't stop there, as nearly everyone in the comments section had an opinion on who was in the right here or who was the better artist.

"Glo dropped more hits than your favorite rapper this year lol," someone stated.
"Rod clears her," another contended.

On October 11, GloRilla announced her album was just around the corner. She said on her social media,

"GLORIOUS da album dropping 10/11 [fire emoji] So grateful to be sharing this with y’all and as a little treat I’m blessing y’all with HOLLON tonight at midnight."

The album's artwork was unveiled to be eerily similar to Rihanna’s debut album Music of the Sun, or so fans began saying, thereby inadvertently stirring up another flurry of opinions online.
