DJ and record producer Stevie J has been one of Sean Diddy Combs’ supporters for a long time. Previously, he had urged everyone to go easy on the hip-hop mogul in the light of the allegations.

The producer recently appeared on the TMZ documentary The Downfall of Diddy and made a few comments about the incident where Combs assaulted his former girlfriend, Cassie.

The documentary host suggested that the concern seemed to focus more on the video's release rather than the actions depicted in it to which Stevie J added,

“No, I wouldn’t say that. You know I am saying, I just know that he was in a dark place, his life as he described to me and that you know he was just doing a lot of drugs and it was just dark for him.”

After this clip of the TMZ documentary went viral, netizens quickly reacted to it. One Instagram user wrote,

“They all sure do know when to put on a good act.”

Netizens suggested that Combs’ friends should not be allowed to talk on his behalf while others pointed to to his drug abuse.

“U know he been always like that … stop it bruh.”
“They need to stop letting his friends talk on his behalf.”
“Diddy been doing drugs and drinking for 30 plus years now”

Instagram users alleged that Combs appeared to condone the drug use, while others expressed concerns that something seemed off.

“I dunno something ain't right man. U wanna talk about loyal ...this man mine as well b diddy 2nd spirit.”
“Don’t understand why go to the white man telling on your so called friend business!!!! People is out here is out pocket for sure! SMH ain’t no more black code whatsoever anymore!”
“Uto oh! I don't think Diddy approved that drug statement.”

Stevie J said Diddy was ashamed his family would see the video of him assaulting Cassie

When discussing the impact of the assault video on Combs, Stevie J shared that it deeply affected him. He explained that Combs felt devastated knowing that his daughter, mother, and friends had witnessed the footage, which caused him significant emotional pain.

The host remarked that it was interesting and asked whether Combs was upset because the video was released or because of his actions. Stevie J responded,

“I believe both hurt him. What he did on the video, he couldn’t believe that that was the darkest point in his life when he had to relive that and see that again with his ex-girlfriend of 10 years. Who wants to see themselves beating on a girl in the video? I think that would kind of like hurt all of us, any man.”

Stevie J explained that the situation surprised him, as he always focused on the things he knew to be true about Sean Combs. After seeing the video, he went to Miami to talk with Combs and expressed how deeply affected he was by what had happened.

Stevie J is facing serious legal trouble alongside Diddy in a lawsuit filed by Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, which accuses them of involvement in sex trafficking and other illegal activities. The lawsuit claims he was part of a criminal enterprise that included recruiting women for prostitution and carrying firearms for Combs, putting his legacy at risk.
