Comedian Bill Maher shared his thoughts about the Snow White movie released in March 2025. On March 31, 2025, he sat down with columnist Maureen Dowd on the Club Random Podcast, where they discussed her new book, stories of growing up, and politics. Maher mentioned the recent release of the Seven Dwarfs movie, where they fought about the dwarves, which he found amusing. He said:

“This is again my one of my big problems with progressives they, just they're so stupid so often about things that they find their way back to something that's very unprogressive.”

Bill Maher criticized the decision to change how dwarves are portrayed in the Snow White movie, arguing that real actors with dwarfism lost out on roles. He found it unreasonable that casting actual dwarves for these fictional characters was deemed politically incorrect, emphasizing that these were jobs that could have gone to actors in the dwarf community. He said:

“Snow White loves Palestine like I wasn't going to see this movie anyway but you know that people who get their news from Tik Tok just just please shut the f*ck up.”

Bill Maher expressed frustration with the way some liberals, particularly those he considers "woke," have neglected to stand up for core liberal values. He believed that important principles like scientific inquiry, human rights, women's and LGBTQ+ rights, freedom of speech, and fair trials made Western society strong, yet they were not properly defended.

Bill Maher said he wasn’t a conspiracy theorist

Bill Maher argued that he supported Western civilization and felt liberals had lost their way by focusing too much on identity rather than ideas. Maureen Dowd added that Democrats failed to recognize the shift in working-class support, noting how her father stayed up all night when Harry Truman won, just as her brother did when Trump was first elected.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Bill Maher commented that when he read certain articles, he remembered that Maureen Dowd had once dismissed the idea of COVID possibly leaking from a lab as racist. He added that while he understood she was a friend, it was fair for him to remain skeptical. He said:

“We used to treat natural immunity as a little more valuable than we do now. I am not saying this is the pharmaceutical industry taking over America entirely. I am not a conspiracy theorist like that but like any industry, they are very influential and the solution always seems to be more of their what they're selling.”

Bill Maher shared that he recently attended a high-profile party hosted by notable figures like Bill and Hillary Clinton, Oprah, Jeff Bezos, and David Geffen. In the past, Elon Musk would have likely attended as well, as Maher had met him at the person’s house before.

Discussing Musk, Maher noted that he warned about AI risks long before it became widely discussed. However, he expressed disappointment, saying he once believed Musk would lead efforts to tackle global warming but now feels he’s more focused on Mars than on solving Earth's problems, comparing his approach to planets with how he handles personal relationships
