Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, made headlines for their appearance at the 2025 Grammys, and new information reveals they didn't have seats reserved at the ceremony.
Grammys executive producer Raj Kapoor told People Magazine on Tuesday, February 4, that they were "there for the red carpet" only because Kanye West's track, "Carnival," was nominated for best rap song. However, as reported by the outlet, the couple simply walked the red carpet before they got in their car and left.
"They didn't have a nomination on the show and Kanye wasn't presenting. He was not performing either, which is mostly what those seats are," Kapoor divulged.
Here's everything we know about why Kanye West and his wife were not invited to the Grammy Awards ceremony
In an exclusive interview with People Magazine, Raj Kapoor said:
"I'm not sure if he was at Pre-Tel, which is at the Peacock Theater before the main show. But that award was definitely in Pre-Tel."
The Grammy Awards was live streamed on CBS Sunday on February 2, and just before that, a special pre-telecast presentation took place not far from the Crypto.Com Arena. There, most of the awards were handed out in what was a non-televised ceremony.
He also revealed how the seating at the Crypto.com Arena is structured on Grammys night and who gets a seat up front. He revealed that only artists who play a role in the event are given a VIP ticket to get into the arena:
"If they were invited guests because we [would] know everybody who's seated at the VIP tables that we have in front," he explained. "We know each person who's coming because every table is numbered. And so our director has to know where those artists are for award categories."
A source told Us Weekly that Kanye West and Bianca Censori left "on their own accord" after they were done posing for photos. “They just got in their car and left,” the insider added.
Kanye West marked his first appearance on the Grammy Awards red carpet in nearly ten years, having last been seen at the same in 2015. At the time, he was nominated for his track "Bound 2" from his 2013 LP Yeezus for best rap/sung collaboration and best rap song.
