Vice President Kamala Harris was hit with a straightforward question about incumbent President Joe Biden's mental health on Wednesday, October 15, during an interview with Fox News. The anchor, Bret Baier, asked when she first noticed his allegedly deteriorating health. He asked,
"You told many interviewers that Joe Biden was on his game, that ran around circles on his staff. When did you first notice that President Biden's mental faculties appeared diminished?"

She ostensibly evaded the question as she replied:
"Joe Biden, I have watched from the Oval Office to the Situation Room, and he has the judgment and the experience to do exactly what he has done in making very important decisions on behalf of the American people."
Baier pressed on, asking if "there were no concerns raised?" to which Kamala Harris said,
"Bret, Joe Biden is not on the ballot… and Donald Trump is."
Regardless, the internet was not amused. Many took to X to ridicule the possible future president, noting that she should have answered the question. As one user put it,
"They weren't even hard questions!"
Others online concurred, noting that it was Kamala Harris' duty to respond to such claims.
"No, Joe Biden is not on the ballot, you’re right… BUT YOUR JUDGEMENT IS," one user declared.
"I’m impressed with Bret Baier. I thought it would be another fluff piece. He asked the tough questions and tried to get a straight answer. It’s pretty obvious she doesn’t know or doesn’t want to answer. All she does is deflect and blame Trump," another opined.
"This woman’s answer to every question Donald Trump," another joked.
"I don’t know if I am more surprised that Kamala agreed to do this in the first place, or the Brett Bayer is actually asking her some complicated questions," someone else shared.
The VP's comments seemingly proved contentious, given that the platform was inundated with ridicule and outrage.
"She will not answer direct questions," another stated.
"She didn't answer the question," yet another pointed out.
"Some one actually holding her accountable and trying to make her answer the actual question," another user lauded.
Others echoed the claims that Kamala Harris didn't, or would not, answer the question in a direct manner.
Kamala Harris says she's going to be different from Joe Biden
The rest of the interview sees the anchor echo George Clooney's remarks from a New York Times op-ed. According to him, Biden was different and not the same man he knew, he felt after conversing with him at a fundraiser earlier in the year. A seemingly relentless Baier pressed on:
"You met with him at least once a week for three-and-a-half years. You didn't have any concerns?"
Kamala Harris shot back, pivoting the narrative towards Trump instead:
"I think the American people have a concern about Donald Trump, which is why the people who know him best, including leaders of our national security community have all spoken out, even people who worked for him in the Oval Office, worked with him in the Situation Room and have said he is unfit and dangerous and should never be President of the United States again, including his former vice president, which is why the job was open for him to choose another running mate. So that is a fact. That is a fact."
She also touched on how she wants to pave her path, independent of Biden's name and reputation.
"Let me be very clear. My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency, and like every new president that comes into office. I represent a new generation of leadership. For example, as someone who has not spent the majority of my career in Washington DC, I invite ideas: whether it be from the Republicans who are supporting me, who were just on stage with me minutes ago, and the business sector and others, who can contribute to the decisions that I make."
In the 30-minute interview, Bret Baier repeatedly cut Kamala Harris off, and vice versa. At one point, Harris told Baier, "May I finish responding, please? You have to let me finish, please." She continued, noting that she was "in the middle of responding to the point" he raised and would "like to finish."
