Anok Yai took to X to clarify her love for Alex Consani after she lost Model of the Year to her at the British Fashion Council's 2024 Fashion Awards on December 2 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
With her win, Alex becomes the first trans woman to win the Model of the Year Award. Anok's tweet comes after she posted an image of Kanye interrupting Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs on her Instagram story. In the tweet she mentioned,
"Alex, I love you and I’m so proud of you British Fashion Council, thank you but I don’t want it anymore"
In another tweet she mentioned,
"If you have seen the effort that I’ve seen Alex put in; you would understand how proud I am of her. But Alex can be proud and I can be exhausted at the same time. It doesn’t take away how much love we have for each other"
After her tweet was reposted by Pop Base on X, some users took to the comment section claiming that her tweet contradicted her Instagram story while others believed that Anok deserved it more than Alex.
"She was trying to be shady and it backfired" - a user commented
"This was a big year for both of them, but I do feel that Anok deserved it more than Alex." - another user noted
"She won last year and still complaining for losing this year,,,,,that’s not" - said another user
"It was shady. Let’s not try to deny that it was shady as hell" - a user claimed
