Kamala Harris, the US Vice President, and Democratic candidate, will not address her supporters on November 6, 2024 night, but is expected to do so tomorrow, i.e. November 7, 2024 from Howard University. Her campaign co-chair, Cedric Richmond, mentioned that the votes were still being counted and some states had not yet been called.

Richmond explained that the campaign would continue working through the night to ensure every vote was counted and every voice heard. This announcement has made netizens pour in their reactions with one X user writing,

“Makes sense. The votes will be counted overnight.”

Social media users speculated that Kamala Harris would win by the time she gave her speech.

“when she gives her acceptance of the next president speech bc the overnight votes added up to her win,” a netizen commented.
“americas really choosing a convicted felon over a woman,” a social media user pointed out.
“This isn’t looking good. Omg… I’m going to be sick,” another X user wrote.

Netizens complimented Kamala Harris’ campaign while others still hoped that she would win.

“Regardless is she wins or loses you can’t deny she put up a good fight with only 3 months for a campaign,” a person mentioned on X.
“I’m gonna assume she doesn’t want to speak because she’s charging up an ultra ijbol for maximum effect,” an online user wrote.
“You’d think she would come out and thank everyone who supported her,” another netizen remarked.
“I hope she wins because she deserves to win omg,” an X user opined.

The race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is reportedly ‘razor thin’

Donald Trump secured a lead in North Carolina, marking the first of the swing states to fall in his favor. Despite this, Kamala Harris's campaign remained hopeful, calling the race "razor thin" and emphasizing that her path to victory was through key swing states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

As per the latest updates, Donald Trump won Pennsylvania, securing 19 electoral votes and flipping the state back into the Republican column after Joe Biden's 2020 victory. Trump also claimed Georgia’s 16 electoral votes, while Kamala Harris won New Hampshire and Minnesota, continuing long-standing Democratic streaks in those states.

Donald Trump declared that his election would help the country heal and described it as a significant political achievement. However, environmentalist Sunita Narain warned that Trump’s presidency could undermine global climate efforts.

She expressed concern that Trump's stance on expanding fossil fuel production and rolling back key policies, such as the Inflation Reduction Act, could worsen the US's role in climate change and hinder progress on decarbonization and international climate financing.

As per The Hindu, residents of Thulasendrapuram, the village of Kamala Harris's maternal ancestors, expressed confidence that she would make a strong comeback, despite her apparent loss in the US presidential race.

Many locals followed the election results closely, some even praying at the Sri Dharma Sastha Perumal temple for her victory. Although Donald Trump was leading, villagers remained hopeful that Harris's determination would eventually lead her to the presidency in the future, regardless of the outcome this time.

With a win in Wisconsin, Donald Trump cleared the figure of 270 electoral votes needed and is now set to become 47th President of the United States of America.
