Eloy Calvo's The Van (La Furgo) has found its distributors as Spain's Sideral has acquired its rights, as Variety reports. The movie will star Pol López (See You in Another Life), Ricard Farré (Shared Custody), Aimar Vega (Prison 77), and more in it.

It is due for a premiere at the Barcelona Sant Jordi International Film Festival 2025 alongside The Quiet Son, Small Things Like These, Reading Lolita in Tehran, Miss Violet, The Divine Sarah Bernhardt, Cuatro Parades, and Adorable. Later it will be released in Spanish theaters.

What is The Van about?

The film is currently in post-production, as the IMDb listing shows, with April 2025 being the expected date for it to come out. The story is an adaptation of Ramon Pardina's graphic novel of the same name, which Ediciones La Cupula published Spain-wide in 2018.

As for the film's plot, the synopsis via IMDb reads,

"After being evicted from his home, Bear lives in his van in which he wanders around the streets of Barcelona. That was meant to be a temporary situation, but finding his way back to a stable home life becomes a challenging odyssey."

The Van's director is hopeful that the film will connect with the fans and that Sideral is sort of an engine helping push the story out there, as he told Variety. Before this, he has directed a couple of films, including Road to Gusen (Carretera a Gusen) and Terrassa V.O.

Other than that, his short film direction includes Japan: Visions Imagined (Japó: visions imaginades), Waste Days, and Housing First: un nou sostre. He has been part of a number of other projects, including Mirage, Party Town, Nati, and more.

Sideral, whom the director praised, has produced a couple of films, including Still Life With Ghosts and A Night at Zoopolis; the latter one is an animation. While Eloy praised the distributors, Sideral's María Oliva thinks that they simply were at "the right place at the right time."

The original creator, Ramon, is also involved in the film's writing alongside Merce Sarrias, where the former is known for El foraster and Polonia while the latter is known for Plats bruts and Infidels.

The Van is scheduled for theatrical release in Spain on June 20, 2025.
