The Strangers: Chapter 2 is the forthcoming horror film and the fourth entry in the Strangers franchise. Helmed by Renny Harlin, the film is written by Alan Freedland and Alan R. Cohen.
Here's the official synopsis:
On the final day of their cross country road trip, a couple's vehicle breaks down, forcing them to take refuge in a remote Airbnb. As night falls, three masked strangers terrorize them until dawn.
The producers of the film include Charlie Dombek, Courtney Solomon, Alastair Birlingham, Mark Canton, Gary Raskin and Christopher Milburn. Lionsgate has shifted the release date of the film and it will be released on September 26, 2025, instead of Saw XI.
The Strangers: Chapter 2 gets a new release date
The Hollywood Reporter has stated that the horror film will be released on September 26, 2025, by Lionsgate. The date was earlier reserved for Lionsgate other horror film, Saw XI. The new release date of the latter is yet to be known.
Madelaine Petsch, who plays the role of Maya Lucas in the film, has said:
“I promise that we’re making The Strangers: Chapter 2 as terrifying as possible, and I can’t wait to show you on Sept. 26.”
Canton, as well as Solomon, also issued a statement about The Strangers: Chapter 2:
“Like Strangers fans everywhere, we’re thrilled for Chapter 2 — it’s the kind of film that’ll have audiences watching through their fingers. Bringing it to theaters this Halloween season is perfect, and we can’t wait for everyone to see where the story goes next.”
The Strangers: Chapter 2 is the second part of The Strangers: Chapter 1 which kickstarted a new trilogy. The franchise began with The Strangers which was released on May 30, 2008. It was written and directed by Bryan Bertino.
The film was followed by its sequel titled The Strangers: Prey at Night which came out on March 9, 2018. After that, the film pivoted in a different direction, and a new trilogy was planned. The first of the new trilogy was called The Strangers: Chapter 1 which came out on May 17, 2024. The Strangers: Chapter 2 is the second in the franchise. Its cast members include:

- Rachel Shenton as Debbie
- Ema Horvath as Shelly
- Richard Brake as Sheriff Rotter
- Froy Gutierrez as Ryan
The third film in the franchise is called The Strangers: Chapter 3 which will release in 2026.
